What's your take on k-OS?

Love him? Hate him? Ambivalent?

How talented is he, in your opinion?

I like him. He's Canadian ( woot! ) and raps about things other than bitches and hoes, which is refreshing. Don't own any albums though, but I've been lazy with my music buying.

He does look a lot like "Will I Am" thats for sure.

My take is that his stance on the current state of Hip Hop is 100% accurate. It is nothing more than dilluted crap any more. Dilluted down to its lowest level, only to make money.

I personally love him and consider him extremely talented.

Joyful Rebellion > Exit as far as his albums go, though Exit is very good too.

Love the fact that all of his songs are Hip Hop at their roots, but he also can do a rock ballad, reagge and R&B. Expect a heavier rock type song on his next album.

If you are curious about him, I suggest purchasing the Joyful Rebellion disk first. You should really dig the album after the first spin. He also has a new DVD out called "Publicity Stunt". It has snippets of a recent contert and some behind the scenes stuff as well. Only complaint with the DVD is the fact that all of the performances are abbreviated and even those do no represent the entire show as there are only about 5 songs listed.

I have high hopes for K-Os and huge expectations for his new album whenever it comes out. He is pretty big everywhere except here in the states. What a surprise huh? Most people here in the US have a habit of missing out on the good stuff and liking crap.

btw; I read somewhere that Crabbuckit was in the top 5 for songs played on the radio worldwide, but of course, not here.

K-Os time will come.

Love Song

Contrary to popular belief, know what yo
This is not a lovesong
It's a sonnett
Damn if feels good to have people up on it but
I'm just a fool playing with the masters tools
Learning how to break the rules of this record company coup
Hallucination - I see with my eyes
But my heart's telling me lies
Why do I fantisize?
Why am I telling lies to the people from the stage
Pretending it's all good when inside it's fire and rage
Cuz I can't understand how a man lives off the life of another man
Tryin to pimp the universe - that's a joke
I stay rockin the boat down on my last note
It's murder she wrote
Assassination vocabulary
I see your termination is heavily necessary
I should have known - they do it for Forbes alone
I do it to break the walls if I fell off then let me know people

CHORUS
It's funny how life can go
First you ride high then you might lay low
Don't get high off your own supply
Someone said first before a fall comes pride
This is my message to the world
Just tryin to reach every boy and girl
Not tryin to say if it's right or wrong
This is not a love song

Lyrical optometrists with 20/20 vision
Are serving rounds like my granny used to serve provisions
Chaotical amneotical fluid
The rap druid is fluent in the art of onomatopoeia
Metaphysical microscopic topic dropper
When I was a kid I wanted rollerskates and a bike chopper
But alas, pop, pop never thought to keep me in style
Thats why I'm schizophrenic now
So God bless the child that has his own
The harvest we reap is what we sow
Chrome microphone - shoot it
Towards a dome of computer digital clones that mimic philosopher stones
Sayin a style's their own when they bite like Mike Furounsville
The sounds ill
Relationship is a mirror
That you see yourself up in and the picture is clearer
Thats why I'm on the scene with a mike like Ernesto Guevara
Why I may exploit with lights like Geraldo Rivera, they just.

CHORUS(again)

It's easy not to care what people say
It's harder to pretend and try
Cuz they can only love you from yesterday
I'm looking at them now they pose high
I'm just a man who's walking
They stand around and keep talking
They tried to clip my wings
But wisdom fills so many things
Say it again
I'm just a man who's walking
They stand around and keep talking
They tried to clip my wings
But wisdom fills so many things

It's funny how life can go
Dont get high off your own supply
This is my message to the world...

I love K-OS too. I was hooked when I first heard Superstar. Then I got his album Exit and thought, "Wow, he's like the Fugees all rolled into one!" Hismusic is truly inspired and, as was said, I love the fact that it blurs genre's but is hip hop at its essence.

He's huge here. Days when you don't hear him on tv or the radio come as a surprise.

Next paycheck, methinks I'm picking up Joyful Rebellion. thumbs up!

So is K-Os. That one song sounds like "Love Cats" by The Cure.

The album version of "Man I Used to Be" is better than the radio cut as there is a very nice acoustic outro, it goes like this;

[Outro]
Oops, wrong song
You know what
I woke up in the morning
I took a trip to the corner store
That's when I heard my calling
But i'd never heard the voice of truth before
So I kept on walking
Pretending I didn't see
Walked by a window and my reflection said to me
You could try all the same
But you'll never know this mystery
There's no pilot on your plane
So you're not the man you used to be
Try all the game, but you'll never know this mystery
When your pie has no plate
Said you're the man you used to be seen
Holla and ya holla, you follow you fall
Ya holler and ya holla, you follow you fall
Ya holler and ya holla, you follow you fall
Ya holler and ya holla, you follow you fall
Ya holler and ya holla, you follow you fall
Ya holler and ya holla, you followa you fall
Yo, microphones get ripped holding us back
K dash rocking it out, rocking the cold style
Making it up, go along singing my song
Woke up, in the early morn didn't know what was going on
Whatever, I don't really know
Flows like an immaculate goat what up, whatever

Then straight into Crabbuckit.

K-Os links worth checking out. It will give you a little inside on how *DEEP* K-Os can be. He is truly an artist.

Checkout what he did with the CBC Radio Orchestra.

You can watch the documentary here --> http://zed.cbc.ca/go?c=ZedRealKos

Song is cool and is at the end of the documentary.
