Chocolate Genius

Who is this guy? Or is it a band even? I stumbled across his/their cd Godmusic and I must say I´m very impressed. It´s inventive, soulful, beautiful, interesting... Very refreshing.

Is Godmusic his/their only cd? I´d appreciate any info.

It's their/his second album. Chocolate Genius is Marc Anthony Thompson and whoever else happens to be around at the time. The first album "Black Music" is absoulutely worth picking up (if you can find it) but it is quite different. Not quite as souful, its a much quiter, heavily acoustic album. Kind of sounds like Nick Cave or Tom Waits, although even those comparisions are a stretch.

No disrespect but couldn't you have done an Amazon search or something similar yourself? Here's his bio from All Music Guide:

I purchased Black Music over 2 years ago in a CD discount store for a buck.It was the best buck I ever spent.(I mean that in the most sincere way)
TwiliteKid is right on by comparing Chocolate Genius to Nick Cave and especially Tom Waits. His music is dark and brooding, very personal and funky.
Haven't purchased God Music yet...what the hell am I waiting for?!

Of course I could have, but I was looking for a more personal response, which I also got. From the other two people on this thread.

Thanks for the info! Black Music sounds interesting, especially since I really like Tom Waits. I´ll try to get hold of it.

And me. I linked you to his bio with reviews. Asking for opinions on Choc Genius is different thing to asking if he has other albums and if he's a band/solo artist etc.

Peace.

Yeah, what the hell are you waiting for? Go buy it today. If you can find that for a buck too it will be a real bargain cause it´s a wonderful album.

I´m going to try and find Black Music.

I was asking for "any kind of info". I thought it was clear that included first hand opinions, reviews and other personal thoughts since I posted this here. If I´d only wanted the "official facts" I´d have looked it up myself.

Don´t get me wrong though, I´m thankful for the link you posted as well.

Cool. AMG site is the best online resource for any music research and they review each album etc. I also like Amazon for it's feedback and reviews. You can also hear samples of both Choc Genius albums there...

He's been supporting Meshell Ndegeocello on her recent tour.

Peace.
