lilgish said: I'll definitely second this one - I've owned it for about fifteen years, and I'm still not completely convinced that it's not a total piece of shit, but I find it interesting enough to listen to it fairly regularly. I basically feel the same way about Scott Walker's Tilt - I'm not the least bit confident that it's any good, but it's one of the weirdest things I've ever heard in my life.

I love The Marble Index. Mind you, I don't really know what it's about (or Desertshore, for that matter), but it's kooky in a way that I like. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

I'd definitely agree with you, lilgish! I haven't been able to listen to all of Miles' Bitches Brew and worst of all I brought the boxset, The Complete Bitches Brew Sessions. These are the other albums I can't seem to be able to hack to:
Aretha Franklin's Hey Now Hey (The Other Side Of The Sky) Meshell Ndegeocello's Bitter The Beatles' Let It Be Check me out and add me on:

Hmmm...I never really tried to understand Bitches Brew or Come, I just listened to them and grew to really like them, esp. on vinyl.

I'm ashamed, but I sold my copy of 'Songs in the Key of Life' back a few months ago. I tried, but just couldn't get into it. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

Everyone got it, accept me. Loved all their material afterwards. Just not this one. Sorry, I dont see it. It was good, but not a classic. They have 5 better albums. Produced in a toilet, and probably written on one. It was shit. .

the most-hyped album that I just don't "get" is probably Devils & Dust, Bruce Springsteen.
All the critics orgasmed all over themselves for this album, but it just bored me to tear. I couldn't even get through it, and i wasn't particularly interested in the lyrics or stories of the songs. To me, it's all rote. He's done it before, and better. Maybe i just need to come back to it in 6 months and give it another listen.

I bought some Pharoah Sanders over a year ago and can't hack 'em.
I think I'm thrown off when there isn't a steady meter for minutes on end.

Damn! Hearing that album for the first time was like church to me. I really tried with SITKOL; I know how musically important it is, I know how much influence it had on Sign 'o' the Times, I know all of that, but I just can't get into the music. I did like 'Love's in Need of Love Today', but that was about it. When the second song kicked in, I just couldn't hack it. I'm too much a child of the '80s, at least in my R&B/Soul appreciation. I thought I was too, but Songs in the Key of Life has become one of my favorite albums of all time. Maybe you will think of it differently if you evern choose to revisit it! It's my favorite Stevie Wonder album by far. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

River Of Dreams is one of my favorite songs and the album is great, but some of the themes are REALLY confusing!
