Will Smith/DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince Rap Music Appreciation Thread. So I know lots of people say, "Will Smith should stick to acting and ditch rapping all together." However, I am a fan of Will's rap music. (Both as his days as The Fresh Prince and to his current days of albums like "Lost & Found.")
I really like his new album "Lost & Found" and I think his songs are all very radio friendly and good for people who want a break from the "normal" rap topics. As lame as it may sound, I do admire Will for not cussing in all his records every 50 seconds like some rappers. I also like Will's delivery. Lots of rappers now-a-days lack Will's style. I also like the fact that his songs can at least make me chuckle. Most of his songs tell a story. I'm not going to claim I am a huge "rap music" follower. The truth is, beyond Will Smith I don't listen to much rap. I mean at least give the man some credit..don't act like you didn't dance to his theme for "Men In Black" when it was out. The track is still bangin' hot today. And the sample in it of "Forget Me Not" is just hot!! Does anyone else dig Will's rapping? Or am I alone?

One of my favorite albums. I remember so many of my classmates reciting Rock the House and doing the underwater Sanford & Son theme. I'm not a huge fan of solo Will Smith, but his early stuff with Jazzy Jeff is classic hip hop.

I give him credit for his Jazzy Jeff material. But dancing to the MIB theme and calling it a "still bangin'" track in 2005 are grave missteps It wasn't even bangin' then. George Michael used Forget Me Nots to much better effect in Fastlove, only a year before - gee, I wonder where they got that idea from

Jeff and Will were THE SHIT back in the day. Rock the House was a respected album, even among the "hardcore" people.
And Jeff was (maybe still is ) a badass DJ. Don´t care much about his Will Smith music, but he deserves more credit than he gets. He ain´t that awful .( but the Will Smith stuff isn´t really my thing.) " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

The "transformer" style cutting was tight in 1986 ! " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

jeff's scratching on "i wanna rock" is pretty cool. Sample from that rob base song i think? (cinister cee will no doubt quote me wrong)
"boom shake the room" was so much fun when i was young. Still is some fun. The stutter rap always makes me laugh a lil'. meh, i like wild wild west. sisqo ripped off jojo and kci and thus ripping off stevie. Hehe. Good shit.
