The Springsteen Sirius Channel...

...is unbelievable. I am certainly not the most prolific Springsteen collector, but I thought I at least heard OF most of his unreleased songs. Not even close. They're playing stuff I've never even heard referenced anywhere. Some of it is pretty damn good, too.

And the concerts...

Every night, they play a bootleg concert. The public gets to vote on which one is played Friday nights. It's incredible. I didn't even know there was a bootleg of Bruce Springsteen from 1-9-7-1. Again, simply amazing.

Of course, this is all done with Springsteen's blessing and assistance. I have to believe that so many of the songs they're playing came directly from Bruce's personal archives. I've never heard the alternate versions of songs like "Pink Cadillac", so that's gotta be coming from Bruce.

If you are any kind of Springsteen fan and haven't heard this, you need to check it out. If you don't have Sirius, find someone that subscribes to the Dish Network. They broadcast it on channel 6010. I think it runs through March.

If Prince did this, I'm telling you we would all be worthless because there'd be no way we'd ever pry ourselves away from the broadcast.

This is good news because it means that a whole bunch of new bootlegs will be hitting the P2P sies.

I'm not a Springsteen fan and pass it up every time. I can't stand the fact that they've taken what sound like good stations and make them one artists stations...what is with getting rid of the world music channel for a Rolling Stones station? The Stones get play on a ton of stations (so does Springsteen). I'm sorry, but I hope these are short lived.

Wait till they devote an entire station to one of your favourite artists. wink

Won't happen and if it did, I would probably get sick of it.

Prince? Doubt it.
Bowie works for Sirius.
I love Elvis Costello but I don't think I could put up with a station of it.
I do love the Stones, but it's overkill...it wouldn't be so bad if they didn't scrap the only world music station!

Most of my other favorite artists that would have enough songs to garner a station are female...they'll never give any woman her own station like they did for the boys....

You say this, but you're as much a fan as I am. You'd be tuning in at least once a week for an hour or so just to hear that unreleased 10 minute version of Miss You with the extended harmonica solo. Or the whole of Elvis Costello's Spinning Songbook London 1986 show. Or those Outside outtakes. Or hear the Icelandic version of Te Ono Crappysong (actually, THAT's pushing it). wink

What are you talking about? The Rolling Stones station, as far as I heard, really doesn't play rarties at all....just album tracks (mostly hits from what I've seen).
