lol He is executive producer. He is also producing a few tracks (majority is Jam & Lewis, though).

He said he will not be guesting on any of the tracks, thank God. No So So Def bullshit.

A great girl trio from the late 70's.

Awww for the love of %#!@%&$ ... I like that song and I do not relish the thought of hearing Janet sing over a loop of it.

She's gonna sample. Even Madonna samples these days. Everyone samples. shrug At least maybe some people will be turned on to the Jones Girls because of her.

That's why sampling isn't completely evil.

Oh my god it's so true. Just because of Madonna's latest album and the samples she denies but are definitely there, I've picked up two GREAT tracks from two artists I have now gotten into that I hadn't really known much of before.

The Jacksons--"Can You Feel It" (bought the Essential Jacksons--Classic!)

Donna Summer--"I Feel Love" (bought her greatest hits--ditto).

Abba I still ain't feeling...but CC is right. that's the beauty of samples.
I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

The original is a jam. I also hope it will help bring some funk back into music. It is sorely lacking lol

Even vainandy would approve in this case. wink

confuse For some reason I keep on thinking Janet will be singing over "Sexy Mama" by The Moments.

I think it's because The Firm sampled that one AND that Jones Girls song.

I'm sorta embarrased to know it though. lol It was highly anticipated but a MAJOR disappointment considering the potential of the collaborations.

Well "I Want You" and "My Baby", as the writer noted, were the kind of light R&B pop numbers that Mariah is now doing (and has done in the past)...very safe. I really do hope the album is uptempo as Jimmy promised but seriously, can Janet move it like she used to in the shape she is in? And is she turning 40 this year? Show us what forty can look like Janet!

Don't look at DJ as representative of what this album will be. It isn't even representative of the album Janet was originally set to release before the SB. Her work with Kanye was rushed by Virgin and they tacked those two tracks on there for the revised (post-SB) tracklisting because they were so non-controversial and non-sexual. This time they're letting her do her own thing because they fucked DJ up badly.

Asking if Janet can still dance is like asking if Madonna can still do the moves during her tours. duh Of course they are not going to release the album if she is 40lbs overweight. The last pics we have of her are from November, and she was working with her trainer back then. She has gained weight between albums for the past 20 years now.
[Edited 1/1/06 12:32pm]

You're right. She'll probably be in shape when the album comes out but the bouncing can't be healthy. Two words...Luther Vandross (and I'm not trying to be funny).

I absolutely agree. Now let's get back with the programme.

So who ARE the songwriters on this? All I know is "not JD!"

Don't know about songwriters, but here are producers:

Confirmed:

-Kwame
-Kanye
-JD
-Jam & Lewis

Rumored:

-Dr. Dre

Kwame? Killpatrick? I thoght JD was not going to be a producer/songwriter. At this rate, count on another "Damita Jo". Bring back the guys that did "All Nite" (althought their contribution to Madonna's latest wasn't great..hell, have Stuart Price work with her or is that too obivious).

The samples are there. I'm not super familar with "Can You Feel It" but I know my Donna and yes, that is "I Feel Love" but her b-side track "Cyberraga" from a few years back really took the "I Feel Love" sample!

Good morning, Rhonda (and Sos, if you're still around). Those compliations where great. Just fun music! Whatever happened to them? I think it got too hardcore and went overboard.

The two Swedish dudes who did All Nite are back, too. Forgot about them.

And it's a terrible idea to have her work with Stuart, IMHO.

I'm glad the Swedes are back...yeah, Janet and Stuart probably wouldn't work as well as Madonna and Stuart but maybe for a change of pace...a track or two.
