Q-Tip - Kamaal The Abstract

snowflake

is this album available or not? i mean, even allmusic.com had a
review of the album eventho it seems it's not released?

why was it not released, it seems like a very good album from a
lot of the reviews i've read.

so is it available from his website perhaps or like some of the
prince stuff, in an online store?

if not, where the hell do people get this album cuz i've never
even seen a boot at record fares and such.

even cover and other artwork seem to be widely spread
as I see this pic popping up whenever people talk about
the album.

so is that official? have copies of a first pressing
escaped from the plants? kinda like The Black Album?

or is this fanmade, widely adopted artwork?

confuse

This is really a Black Album situation...some promotional copies were distributed, and many news outlets reviewed the album ( at that time it still had a release date)....it just never made it to stores for an official release... there used to be an official site for it, that actually had the album artwork...but then the project was shelved(Arista claimed they didn't know how to market it because it was too different. Then they released Outkast 's Speakerboxx two years later, which was hailed by critics and fans for being "new and different" neutral ). Over the years, like the Black Album, the promotional copies of Kamaal have been copied, and those copies have been copied and the files have been traded back and forth over the last few years...A couple of years ago, Q tip said that although he was still pissed at Arista not releasing the album, he didn't really mind the "Black Album" status that it has achieved since then; it sort of developed as an underground classic thing...

Underground status aside, it's fucking annoying that Open is going to be unreleased too!

One of my friends emailed me 2 or 3 songs that was going to be on that album, but I think I deleted them on accident. I swear just from listening to those songs, Kamaal The Abstract was going to be a masterpiece and better than his debut.

It's definitely better than his debut. Shame.

I've have this album. Haven't listened to it in a while. But it was interesting. I can't say it was the best thing ever but he had some really good ideas that were different from what was being played on the radio back in 2001 or whenever it was supposed to come out.

I thought it was the same thing... Yeah, This gettin' frustrating mad ...Someone of his stature can't get an album project released when all these other Joe Neckbones out there can fart and have it put out on CD, DVD, i-Tunes, and Lord knows what else...
