You Guys should listen to much more... ![]() He's one of the greatest musical artists of our time!!! ![]() It's a bit sad when I say his name and people mostly response like "He's still making albums?" or "I like Sledgehammer - it has a cool video!" ![]() Come on, his music is more than two dancing chickens... ![]() He's a fantastic songwriter, producer, singer, performer and visual artist; and his voice is like a trademark!!! ![]() He's never released any weak albums - his music is exciting, inspiring, emotional, humane and highly artistic!!! ![]() My favourite albums are "So" (a masterpiece - includes probably his finest song - "In Your Eyes"), "Us", "OVO" and his latest studio album - "Up". ![]() Please, go and spin some of his magic and show your love for his amazing talent!!! ![]() ![]() . I've been listening to "Blood of Eden" a lot lately.
I know it's from a long way back, kinda like people who say they like "The Morning Papers" I guess, but it's a fantastic song and Sinead being on it as is, well just superb. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Here is my Peter Gabriel story.
A few years ago when I worked for a private aviation company Peter Gabriel came in about midnight. He had a 15 passenger van reserved. One of his workers came up and asked if I had a van reserved for Mr. Peter Gabriel. I replied, "Who is Peter Gabriel?" Then, Peter Gabriel raised his hand. His assistant looked at me like I was crazy for not recognizing him. He didn't look like the guy in the Sledgehammer video. I spoke with Peter Gabriel for a moment and he let me know that I probably knew him from Sledgehammer. I told him that I knew he was once in Genesis and that I did not recognize him. He thought it was funny the way his assistant was horrified that I didn't know him. After he left, I felt pretty dumb for not recognizing the name alone. I guess it had been awhile since I listened to Peter Gabriel. [Edited 12/22/05 7:07am]

It's my favorite! I directed a community theater production of "Bent." It's about gay lovers in a Nazi concentration camp during WWII. Peter Gabriel's "Passion" served as the play's soundtrack for the production because it was so moving. It was also great inspiration! As another note, PG's "Passion" is perfect for the bedroom, if ya know what I mean...

saw him in concert about 3 yrs ago now ...it was weird ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() He has incredible vocals .. but that last album ... was alil odd ... i remember after it came out thinking ... at times- it is UNLISTENABLE ... like scratching my nails against the black board ... i guess someone could consider that music !!! ![]() My wife is actually much more in "love " with peter ... and to me - thats one thing about him that i DONT LIKE --- i mean ... is he a professional musician ???? if you say yes --- then why cant he put out an album every year or so .... ??? (guess i am too used to Prince ... and ... Peter (and groups like him) lose my attention span in between albums !!!) ![]()

I first became aware of Peter Gabriel one summer night in 1980, when I heard what turned out to be "Games Without Frontiers" on the radio, and I spent the next day trying to track it down. Since then, I've been a fan...my favorite PG tracks over the years are:
The Rhthym Of The Heat/The Heat (instrumental version from the "Birdy" soundtrack) Games Without Frontiers Shock The Monkey I Have The Touch Wallflower Biko Walk Through The Fire (Nile Rodgers-produced single version) San Jacinto Don't Give Up(with Kate Bush) In Your Eyes Digging In The Dirt Solisbury Hill No Self Control Sledgehammer Big Time Red Rain Soft Dog ... I once worked in a movie theater. We were having a premier, and I was told not to let anyone sit in two rows of seats, but I wasn't told that it was a Jean Claude Van Damme Movie (this was a while ago). So when Jean Claude and his friends go to sit in the seats, I got a real kick out of telling them that they couldn't sit there (I'm so petty). They told me it was his movie, so I said "What's your name?" he said, under his breath, so as not to cause a riot "J.C.V.D." I said okay, I'd check it out. Of course I let him sit there, as he may or may not have been a martial arts expert. I was actually pissed at the theater for not telling me it was his movie. Check this song out at:

(I wanna say he was levitating while he sang.) I missed the tour, but I think it coincided with the "Up" release. Does anyone know?

Sounds like you're referring to his shows after the release of "Up" (2003). During "Downside Up," Peter (and Melanie, his daughter who sang on the tour), would run around on the bottom surface of part of the stage rigging, upside down. Hard to explain, and this pic isn't the best, but take a look: ![]() More pics from that tour are here: http://tompy.typepad.com/.../pgphotos/ http://www.koncerti.net/f...abriel.htm http://www.tonylevin.com/...rindex.htm (Tony Levin is PG's long-time bass player) "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. ![]() ![]() I'm quite a PG fan myself, though the last time I saw him live was in Detroit in 1987! Meaning I missed the great tours for Us and Up. ![]() ![]() I first got into PG thanks to the local college radio station playing cuts from his third solo album...Games Without Frontiers, Not One of Us, etc. So was the first CD I bought to go along with my first CD player! Someone on here posted something not long ago, about a possible Gabriel/Genesis reunion...anyone heard anymore about that? "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. YES! This is it! Thanks for the pic & links. I'm sorry I missed the show!
