IstenSzek said: this has to be the one band in the universe that i have hated from the first moment i clapped eyes on them. they used to be rather big in Holland and a lot of that rubbish they play entered top 40. i think they have like 17 repackaged best off albums in stores over here. my brother used to be quite a fan of theirs. whenever i hear that moaning, grating, whining voice of the lead singer i just wanna hit my head against a wall however, i have never met anyone yet who agrees with me on that. most people seem to think UB40 is just fine... what about you guys? Actually, back when they first came on the scene in 1980, they were regarded as cutting edge. In the UK it was the era of the Two Tone/ska/mod revival and UB40 (named after the old term for an unemployment benefit card) were very much a part of it. Most of their songs were originals and a lot of those were pretty good - Food For Thought, Madame Medusa, The Earth Dies Screaming etc. They only started becoming a reggae lite karaoke band around the time of Labour of Love, their first covers album, but even then that was regarded as a great album and a bold masterstroke. The rot set in shortly thereafter. But you know what? I don't own ANY of their records, but UB40 can do what the hell they want Good luck to 'em. There's far worse around. Like ... Coldplague and U2's current lazyitis incarnation. [Edited 12/22/05 10:43am] There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. British, from Birmingham (the original one) i believe. Indeed. Home of Ozzy Ozzbozo and Black Sabbath too. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

They were very popular in D.C. and I don't think some of you guys like roots reaggae. If you listen to the entire album that Red Red Wine is on it is really a bunch of covers of older roots reagae. Which made me go out and pick up the original music. Those 19.00 keybords were used to recreate that song of roots reaggae music. UB40 messed up when they stared doing Sonny and Cher covers (LOL)> Exactly! Someone who knows their facts. As Labour of Love was the biggest hit of their career, they not only revisited the concept not once but THREE times, but they hit upon a great way of filling their coffers resulting in dwindling results in the original songs department. Still, Paul McCartney was bopping around to them at Live 8. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Yes, yes, yes! Their vocals are incredibly grating, as is their reggae shuffle crap! Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

UB40 are truly one of the most satanic acts of all time. Did Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Coxsone Dodd and Augustus Pablo die so this trash could come to pass???
Grrrrr | |
