Thanks sextonseven!

All you have to do with the points is make sure they add up to 100 and make sure each album has between 5 and 30 points.-

I know that Major League Baseball uses a fixed point system when asking writers and other members to vote for the best players at the end of the year to avoid people getting confused about assigning their own points. Just thought I'd help out with that because I'm curious to see what the final tally will be.

sigh I have resolved to try more new music in 2006. This past year, for me, wasn't a great one for new music, but I'm wiping the slate clean and hope that this sort of thread resurfaces in about a year's time. biggrin

After the lists already submitted, some leaders are starting to emerge, but each list that comes in still has great potential to shake things up!

We certainly like our women here, don't we!

I traditionally don't listen to men all that much. I'd say 70% of my albums are by female artists or female fronted bands. That's why I've totally turned my back on rock radio. Their playlists have been nearly 100% male artists for around the last five years (give or take a Garbage or Yeah Yeah Yeah's single here and there).

I'm pretty much split 50/50 when it comes to men/women vocalists.

I'm notoriously biased. Whenever I get a 'new bands to look for' article in Alternative Press magazine or something, I immediately look at the pics to see which ones have female members and then read to see if the women are the vocalists. A male fronted band would have to really hit me over the head with how good they are before I take a chance with them (like the White Stripes).

I used to favor females a lot more but have balanced out in the past few years.

It's the Village Voice's annual best of music poll. The initial letters of the words Jazz and Pop are transposed I'm guessing to be clever.

So where have you been? You've been gone a long time.

Oh. lol Yeah I just thought that it was a typo. biggrin

I HAVE been gone for a while. nod I was busy rehearsing/performing for the past 2 months, so I just couldn't be on the computer. Too painful (for my back and neck mad ). But now I'm back. biggrin

That's probably not such a good thing though. confused
