Switch/"There'll Never Be" or "I Call Your Name"?

Both songs are killin' to me. I wrote a thread a long time ago about "There'll Never Be". Anyway, "I Call Your Name" is very cool as well, especially the music. The spoken intro is funny as hell. Anyway, which one do ya'll prefer?

"But I'm a man, now, baby!!!" He sounds so convincing smile Seriously, though, "There'll Never Be", though "I Call Your Name" is the s**t, too. There's just something about that bass and that Debarge falsetto at the end that just does it for me. "La La La La La La" never sounded so cool...

Both are tight but I dig 'THERE'LL NEVER BE" a little bit more because of it's funk elements!

Both are two of my alltime favorite slow jams but I like "There'll Never Be" better.

I love these songs. I was not familiar with this group until a few years ago.

I can see how El got his vocal inspiration from Bobby DeBarge.

The intro sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks did it. lol Come to think of it, A lot of parts on both songs sound like the Chipmunks. Like the "Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo's" on "There'll Never Be". I like both songs the same, so I really can't pick one. Switch was good back in the day, Anyone remember "Best Beat In Town"? FONKY!!

Hell yeah the spoken intro is funny on Call Ya name. "Are ya gonna call me lie you said ya would. Both are so hot. Theyll Never is so good and their first hit but Name has that vibe. Name would have been my choice for th e last 20 years but now I say they are tie. I would never want to live without one of them in the world.

my favorite Switch song is "Love Over And Over Again" (1980),which amazingly didn't become as popular as the previous singles ("There'll Never Be" and "I Call Your Name").

but to answer the question...I guess I'll pick "I Call Your Name",but both songs are incredible.

I Call Your Name has always been one of my favorites.
When I was in college, one of my room-mates told me that El Debarge was the vocals.
I never looked it up myself, & all these years I thought this was true.
Til recently, an orger informed me that it wasn't.

Wow! That's why I picked these two songs cuz I knew the posts would be sincere! Dig, I could rap a year about these two songs and how great they're both are and why. Both songs, musically, are top notch when it comes to the production. Very well played. Both songs and Switch's image influenced P and MJ. Switch was big on the soft, damn near girlish image, especially Bobby DeBarge. The intro to "I Call Your Name" is legendary. The little touches like the keyboard melody while Bobby is talking is genius. If anybody ever wanted girls to melt from hearing a ballad, I think this was it. Waaay more so than P's weird ass end of the world speech on "Do Me, Baby", or Mike's "She's Out Of My Life". I can't pick one over the other, cuz "There'll Never Be" is bangin' too. When I was little, my mother and myself would be laughing so hard whenever this song would come on the radio in the car at Bobby's falsetto and I would be imitating him while I was laughing.

Thought they were a little corny, although the album was tight. Jermaine Jackson the Executive Producer of Switch's album. Calling On All Girls and Best Beat in Town were my favorite jams on this album. Bobby DeBarge's piercing falsetto on Calling on All Girls was powerfully great and heartbreaking. RIP Bobby!

I agree, I thought they were corny as well. But the girls back then adored that shit. Jermaine did an excellent job and as I said earlier, they had some great cuts on their albums.

well then pLEASE do! i'd love to read some more about these two songs and about switch in general. they were my all time fav group when i was growing up. i LOVE switch....bobby and tommy and eddie and phillip and gregg and...that's it right? lol
i used to play their albums over and over and over and over again.music bobby's voice is just so sweet to me and i thought that phillip's voice was always the perfect compliment to it. i loved when they were singing together and my favorite love songs in the world....as far as moving me and taking me back to the day would be a switch love song. between 'there'll never be' and 'i call your name'.....damn.....how do u choose? they are both tite. it's like inhaling lavender.....i wish i could just snort the whole bottle up my nose and be one with the lavender...it just smells so damn good! same with these two songs. i hear them and i just wanna melt into the song and float away into 'there'll never be 'land. i was very upset when i heard that bobby had died because even though i had lost track of them as i got older....i always remembered switch in my heart and couldn't wait for the day when i could listen to my albums again. (i don't have a wreka playa)
