The Strokes - First Impressions Of Earth Got my hands on a copy of the new album of The Strokes which will be released on Jan. 2nd.
It sounds as if the boys are getting a grip on their career again! After the smashing debut 'Is This It' they were hyped, which they couldn't live up to with their second, 'Room Of Fire'. Where 'Room...' sounded like 'Is This It Pt2', '....Earth' sounds more mature. They've adopted some more patterns in their sound, there are even some slow songs on it. Julian Casablanca's singing has evolved without losing the catchy sound of it. Also very present are the excellent basslines and guitar-riffs they are known for! Not familiar with the song-titles yet (it's playing on my iPod as I'm typing this). Check this album out (once it's released), The Strokes are finally getting identity!

I loved their second album. It was great but not as radio-friendly as their first, which, in my opinion, means it was better. I would love it if they never had another hit but just developed a loyal fan base and kept rocking. Sort of like Pearl Jam in a way.

Oh, the new album is definitely in Strokes-style.....I doubt that they'll ever have a big hit! The loyal fan-base is already there, and their shows rock! This album is more balanced (for the better) than 'Room On Fire', which had some great songs as well but reminded too much of the great 'Is This It', IMO!
