Oldies Song of the Day: "Love's Train" by ConFunkShun

Does anybody else dig this song as much as I do? I heart this song! Luckily, a radio station here plays it quite frequently. Every time this song comes on, I find myself turning up the volume and singing along.

Love's Train lyrics

Artist - CONFUNKSHUN
Lyrics - Love's Train

Warm night, can't sleep, too hurt, too weak
Gotta call her up
Dial that, number, no one, answers
Till it's two o'clock

And if by chance, you let me come over
Out on the street, I want to see ya baby
And if by chance you let me just hold ya
I'm down on my knee, I wanna please ya baby, I
[I'll be your righteous lover]

She said “Sugar, Honey, Darlin'
I really wanna see ya too
It's just that someone's, over, and baby
I really wanna be with chu'

But if by chance you let me just hold ya
I'm calling I'm free, I wanna see ya baby
When in need you said you would be here
And you hold the key
To my very being baby and I
[I...love you, baby]

If you are that special lover
And love keeps you tied to another
That's the way it goes on love's train

Sometimes heart strings can be broken
But you've just have to keep on goin'
That's the way it goes on love's train

On a warm night, lady, wants her, baby
So she calls him up
Dial that, number, no one, answers
Till it's two o'clock

If by chance, you just come over
Cause darlin' please, I've got to see ya baby
And when in need you said you would be here
And now I'm in need and please believe me baby
I love you darlin'
[Listen babe]

If you are that special lover
Love keeps you tied to another
That's the way it goes on love's train
[You don't need no, you don't need no ticket to ride]

Sometimes heart strings can be broken
But you've just got to keep on goin'
That's the way it goes on love's train
[Listen babe, listen baby]

If deep sorrow you've been soakin'
But you've just have to keep on strokin'
That's the way it goes on love's train
[Loves a hurting thang ya'll that makes you want to cry, come on]

If you are that special lover
And love keeps you tied to another
That's the way it goes on love's train
[Find yourself alone]

Sometimes heart strings can be broken
But you've just have to keep on flowin'
That's the way it goes on love's train
[In time everythings gonna be alright]

If deep sorrow you've been soakin'
But you've just got to keep on strokin'
That's the way it goes on love's train

It sure is timeless....considering that I never discovered the song until 2002 when one of my tricks was thumbing through my CDs and wanted to hear this song. I had never listened to the song before so my first time hearing it was while we were doing some of those filthy, unnatural thangs. That songs makes me hot every time I hear it now. Like Florida Evans on "Good Times" used to say..."Have mercy!". evillol

These guys have so many spectacular slow jams...

"Let Me Put Love On Your Mind" (1979)
"Make It Last" (1979?)
"By Your Side" (1980)
"Straight From The Heart" (1981)
"Love's Train" (1982)
"Baby I'm Hooked (Right Into Your Love)" (1983)
"I'm Leaving Baby" (1985)

music it's hard for me to pick a favorite

I remember the video for "I'm Leaving Baby" (love the song), most notably for the future fly girl that played Michael Cooper's love interest. She had those eyes and that BODY razz

Nice to see so much appreciation for this song. I heard this song today on the radio at work, had to bite my lip to keep from singing along.

Man, I loved R&B radio during this time.
These two songs always make me feel good whenever they come on, not just cuz they're great, but also the memories the invoke.
Love's Train always makes me stop what I'm doing & I always sing along to Straight From The Heart.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I actually prefer ConFunkShun's ballads to their uptempo tunes. This is my favorite of theirs. smile
