I liked the 2nd half of dogmanstar an awful lot. Big, sweeping, melodramatic ballads - some people thought it was just bombastic and flatulent, but I liked it.

Suede were a very good an underrated band. Imo Come Up is a brilliant romantic pop album, although Dog Man Star and their self titled debut were much more acclaimed by the British music press back in the 90s. As I said, they're very underrated, and all 3 albums are definitely worth owning. Britpop at its finest. [Edited 12/13/05 22:59pm]

I used to adore them. I think their work fell off a bit at the end, but each album still has highlights for me.
On Coming Up....The Beautiful Ones was prolly my favorite. It was my crew's "theme song" for a summer

Back in the 90s they were my favorite Indie-Band. Coming up is my favorite album by them. It is absolutely amazing from the first song to the last. The B-sides were always great too.
When they released "Head Music" the disappointment started to set in because despite some really great songs it contained a lot of crap like the title song and "Elephant Man" for example. I´ve had high hopes when Brett Anderson and Bernard Butler reunited as "The Tears" but their album turned out slightly disappointing too because it is not much better than the last Suede releases IMHO.
