I think they're equally famous, but as a song i much prefer Hey Jude. I was never really a fan of Imagine.

It's like asking: Which ear is your favorite? Your left one or your right one?
Love them both...both classics.
But if I have to choose, I always choose John cool

hey jude because i hate imagine. that's right, hate it. it's not the idea behind the song that i hate but for some reason imagine just never sounded genuine to me. it always came off as a false sentiment, as if john lennon knew that what he was writing was beautiful but for whatever reason, didn't fully believe in it.

i don;t know why it strikes me that way but it always has, ever since i've been little.

Now, I know I'm a Beatles hater, but those 2 are some of the worst offenders for me.

Yeah, "Imagine" always seemed pretentious and contrived to me. I prefer "Hey Jude" by a landslide.

I think Hey Jude simply because Imagine has been done to death. Dont get me wrong, its most definitely a classic, but I could do with maybe a ten year break from it!

Also, my dog - Judy - listens and her little ears perk up whenever she hears Hey Jude! She gets very curious at the tv or the stereo. Very funy to watch! nod Also happens at Yesterday...go figure! She must be a Paul fan.....

Imagine.

Hey Jude is the biggest cheap shot is music history. Paul might as well called the song "Hey John, your a shitty dad."

Interesting that you'd say that about a guy who (with a few exceptions) generally moved away from the pop arena he'd created, and who was the mirror opposite of Paul McCartney in that respect. A guy who released Two Virgins, Mother, Revolution 9, and most of all, RECORDED WITH YOKO ONO!

Imagine's a much more important & timeless song, but I've probably preferred to listen to Hey Jude for pleasure.

And John loved Hey Jude. I don't think he saw it as a dig at his fathering skills, he saw it as acceptance of Yoko and kindness towards Julian.

Hey Jude is more famous. Many peple not into The Beatles aren't aware fo Imagine. But everybody has heard Hey Jude or had more of a chance to hear that then Imagine.

As a record, yes, but I bet more singers have covered Imagine than Hey Jude.

Agreed. But Hey Jude is more famous still.

I don't think I've ever heard a cover version of Hey Jude, though I'm sure they're out there. I'd like to hear that one.

I think Hey Jude would be more intimidating to cover because the original is so great. Imagine is more about the song than the performance, and it'd probably be easy for a great singer to do something big with it. And of course the lyrics are meaningful to anyone, unlike Hey Jude.

U have to hear it. Its so soulful. It made me finally give it up to The Beatles. Their music is so interpretable by so many diverse artists. Fuck it.

Yep, it's hard to deny songs that are good enough for Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Prince, and on and on.
