Haven't had to deal with a traditional winter for many moons so I don't have a particular Winter Album, but this song comes to mind.

Snowbound - Donald Fagen

Chorus:
Snowbound
Let's sleep in today
Wake me up
When the wolves come out to play
Heat up
These white nights
We're gonna turn this town
Into a city of lights

At Nervous Time
We roll downtown
We've got scenes to crash
We're gonna trick and trash
We're gonna find some fun
We hit the street
With visors down
With our thermasuits
Sealed up tight
We can beat the freeze
And get saved tonight
Let's stop off at the Metroplex
That little dancer's got some style
Yes she's the one I'll be waiting for
At the stage door

Chorus

We take the tube
To Club Hi Ho
It's about deadspace
It's a marketplace
And a party house too
Something new
From Charlie Tokyo
It's a kind of pyramid
With a human heart
Beating in an ion grid
A critic grabs us
And says without a smile
The work seduces us with light
Eviva laughs and we step out
Into the blue-white night

Chorus

Brigde:
We sail our icecats on the frozen river
Some loser fires off a flare, amen
For seven seconds it's like Christmas day
And then it's dark again
And then it's dark again

Chorus

It sounds like sitting in front of a log-fire on a snowy night.

It's okay, a friend keeps bugging me to pick it up along with The Nightfly 'cos I'm such a Steely Dan fan.

I'll get around to it. wink

No, mate - it's his solo material. I prefer it to 'The Nightfly', in fact. nod

No worries, though - you're welcome.

Cool, I'll give you my verdict in time, but most folk seem to rate The Nightfly higher. Sounds like they're both pretty good. smile

Fair enough. I happen to like MJ's Invincvible and that gets trashed to fuck around here. Different strokes and all that.

They're 2 good concept records referring to different points in time.
The Nightfly the past (50s-60s) and Kamakiriad (somewhere in the future).

If I had to chose between the 2, it'd be The Nightfly. But I don't. wink

I know. I love short, impressionistic movies. It would be mostly black and white - white skates, swish pan, camera pointing at the snowy sky, tips of trees turning in the frame. Skater rapidly approaching, silence, red flash of a siren, silence, suffocation... 5 minutes, over.

I'm serious about this. nod
