One of her best I had the album for a while and just sorta put it on and the song (which never struck me) came over me and with the recent passing of my mother (at the time) was very overwhelming. I think I played that song like 20 times in a row and just bawled. Christian Zombie Vampires

Europa (Earth's Cry, Heavens Smile) by Santana, that song gets me everytime. But I love it to pieces.
This Hissing Of Summer Lawns by Joni Mitchell, because the concept of being trapped in suburbia saddens me. It's Christmas Time by James Brown is currently working on me. I dig this out every year and it makes me sad...but I love it

And one more: River by Joni Mitchell. It makes me think of what would happen if I screwed up my relationship and it ended.... that song just captures that kind of regret and devestation like no other track does, IMHO. yeah thats why i cant listen to it....very very bad! As SOON as I saw this thread, I thought of that song. Long story short, years ago I was completely head-over-heels with this guy and - for some Godforsaken reason??!! - I was listening to 'Blue' (the album) on Xmas Eve. Not one of the most festive albums out there. Anyway, the opening chords of 'River' started and I was gone. Ridiculous, now, but I always think of that when I hear this song.

That sucks, but we all like to wallow in A little blue on Christmas Eve some years Its a total killer, most lethal song there is for me I think. Except How Can You Mend A Broken Heart...which is similarly depressing! None of that this Christmas y'hear!!!

Depends on the mood I'm in...
Whenever I want to cry but the tears ain't coming, I put 'Casta Diva' on, in a rendition of Maria Callas.

"Gone Too Soon" Michael Jackson. I don't necessarily cry, but it does make me think about how things in life are so fleeting.

'At Last'sung beautifully by Etta James, because love is a such a wonderful thing and I always cry over beautiful and wonderful things.
'Human Touch' by Springsteen, because he sounds so vulnerable and again, I am a sap. 'Purple Rain' makes me cry, which alot of people don't get. I love it.

I agree with those who posted "A Woman's Work" by Kate Bush, that song makes me bawl! The melody, the way Kate sings it with such emotion in her voice.
Other songs that make me cry: "One Sweet Day" by Boys II Men and Mariah Carey. For some reason, it makes me think of my grandparents (who are now all deceased) and other people who I have known who have passed on. "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle. What can I say, a beautiful song about a father's love for his daughter. "My Immortal" by Evanescence. This song came out when I was going through a sad period in my life. I still cry whenever this song is played on the radio. I know there's gotta be some more that are not coming to me right now. Lemme give this some more thought. [Edited 12/9/05 16:28pm] RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Michael Jackson's One Day In Your Life just came on. This song is sure melo-dramatic, esp to a ten year old boy that just lost his father, like I did the year this song was a huge hit in Holland. Somehow I channeled all my sadness into this song and it is still capable of making me bawl like a child whenever I hear it, almost immediately when I hear the melody. I have the same with The Beatles' Free As A Bird, a song I was drawn to after the death of my mother almost two years ago. The image of a bird freeing itself of earth's gravity is exactly how I experienced my mother's passing and therefor, also, a song that can make me cry immediately. So what are your crying songs and why? "one day in ur life" is so horribally corny. but, if i ever get round to hearing it again, i'd proberly think of a loved one or an ex. It is quite haunting.

"Your Cloud" by Tori Amos. Its such a beautiful song. Its sheer beauty makes tears gather.
"Fade Into You" by Mazzy Star. This song reminds me of when I lost my grandmother. It seems to drain every bit of emotion out of me when I hear it. I instantly turn into that horrified 15 year old kid again. "1000 Oceans" by Tori Amos. This song reminds me of everyone Ive ever lost in my life and evey tear that Ive ever shed. Its so therapeutic for me. "Wholy Holy" by Aretha Franklin. Great gospel songs always work my tear ducts. I was raised in a religious family and the things that Ive learned as a Christian never stray far from me no matter how many consecutive church services I miss. This song reminds me of my religious heritage and the unshakeable faith that I continue to hold close to me. "Amazing Grace" for similar reasons. "Neither One of Us" by Gladys Knight and the Pips. Hearing her sing this live sends chills down my spine. Its a gorgeous song about having to close chapters in your life. I adore it. I'll stop for now. [Edited 12/19/05 15:08pm]
