Pharrell's new video is a trainwreck

And if you think it's going to be a hit you are smoking that tyrone biggums crackity crack.

lol lol lol lol

mms://virta.capnova.com/e...el_med.wmv

Everything from the Victoria Secret knock off look to the karoke vocals to the bad lyrics to the callin his mom.

Strike 2 off the album:

Pharrell doesn't know how to write a engaging song. Does he know how to craft a danceable beat? Yes... But the hype on Pharrell has hit a alltime high.

He's handsome and talented. I loved when he grabbed the woman's leg. That looked sexy.

This album is going to tank. It won't sell what they expect.

And No Pretty Mansoon there is no 777 9311 similiarity in rhythm pattern/keyboards or vocal delivery line. This can be proven easily.

This label hypes way too much. Way way too much money for projects/videos to push projects. And plus all of the artists are in limbo who have signed there.

This song reminds me of something I'd hear on Soundclick as a demo. Imagine if Pharrell's name wasn't attached to it.

I hear it! Might not technically be a matchup, but based on how much of a Prince fantatic/junkie he is, I say "GUILTY". I sentence him to the Phantom Zone. Just for attempting vocals.

Actually, AndyKeen I don't think Pharrell's name singular is worth much.

It's always featuring someone. I don't think anyone just wants a Pharrell track. It's almost like having a solo Teddy Riley track. I think that's what alot of people try to hide.

I've heard the hype for ages on this board and just thought I'd say what I think of Angel.

lol lol lol lol lol

Whoever put money into this video and released it is a dumb mf. No girl is gonna think this video is cool except the ones who bought the first N.E.R.D. album.

Terrible. Really terrible. Pharrell's trying his hardest to be Prince, and it just ain't working. As much as I love N.E.R.D.'s debut album, he should've stopped right there with his own work - no need for a follow up project from N.E.R.D., and there damn sure wasn't a need for his own project.

he's nowhere near as talented as people make out.

only the first n.e.r.d album was any good, which was mostly good because of a full band....and "she wants to move"....i liked those.

this new stuff is horrible.

Here's the thing that annoys the shit out of me. Someone will say someone can't sing in R&B like "Beyonce" or "John Legend" and applaud Pharrell Williams for every little whine he does on record. For every little vocal flub "Pharrell is a genius" I heard Mf's doin this on Soundclick and mp3.com. AND....why should this be getting praise and accolades? Because his management/label/publicity firm wants you to? Get the f out of here with that bullshit.

Pharrell is a mogul stylist genius... but as a frontman? You know how much auto tune they did on Pharrell's voice on Fly Or Die? Ahhh lot. Do you know those same people were teasing Spears/Ashanti/Avril for doin the same damn thing?

This is why I think Pharrell is a great salesman. He could avoid the question of being a good frontman when someone like Rodney Jerkins couldn't do that. They would immediately say "Why is Darkchild singing" Every trend/scenester/hipster magazine just stood behind on Pharrell no matter how bad his vocal performances were.

to be able to make that transition my hats off to him (no trucker hat)

BUT....This second single proves yet again why Pharrell can't "Fly" on his own and I don't think the public is buying it. The only way Pharrell is going to be able to hit is when he is featured.

Another thing that kills me is how people mock R Kelly or lyrics. Listen to effin ANGEL! These guys are just filling legal pads in the same way that R Kelly did.

It is too funny. The hypocrisy it's just downright hysterical. This machine that is behind Pharrell. It's powerful form of persuasion. "Well, he isn't singing in a orthodox fashion" That's fine then why can't people in R&B do what Pharrell is doing without worry of gettin kicked out the studio or their record contract?

Answer these questions and you get to the bottom of it

You hit the nail on the damn head. Sounds like Pharrell got a hold of some cheap-ass Casio keyboard and the result is this shit.

I just checked out his website...there was a post there asking for all the members to list their age...ONLY ONE PERSON was 25 years old and that person even wrote (damn i feel old)!!!! everybody else was under 20...that explains a hell of of a lot...

exactly. the only reason people like pharrell are where they are today is because of the technology. they couldn't have held a candle to anyone if they were around in any other time. it's all gimmickry and plasticity that sells now....i don't think it has a good effect on younger and even some older people either because they have an unreasonable expectation that THAT is reality. no, it is highly manipulated performances pasted together, usually. with this kind of music, there's usually no honesty or real "one shot" performance involved.

they take the musical substance out of it and minimalise everything so that there's more space for the consumer to feel more important and closer to the star....that's my theory on all this spaciousness and minimalism....take away the substance and leave a few decorations around the listener. "aural bling". just another accessory to make you feel like you're a king or queen when your reality might be something different. like you said, incredibly persuasive marketing...in fact the marketing is included in the product now....it's not art anymore, in my opinion, with most modern r&b and hip hop. it's smoothed-out, compressed simplified product; no thought necessary.
