2005 had some good shit overall. Nine Inch Nails came back strong, Tommy Lee put out a surprisingly impressive CD, both Madonna and Mariah Carey had really good albums(though I think Madonna's was more consistant), both Paul McCartney and The Stones put out there best stuff in a while(especially Paul), I actually really liked Fiona Apple's CD(wasnt that much of a fan), and Moby's Hotel CD really pleased me
As for other CDS: Missy's was alright but didnt hit the spot too hard, 50 Cent's was tight but more of a party disc with not much depth, Billy Corgan's was interesting but not that great, and The Darkness pleased me but overall was nothing special Albums of 05 I still need to get: Waiting for the Siren's Call- NewOrder Have A Nice Day- Bon Jovi Playing the Angel- Depeche Mode Supernatural- Goldfrapp Late Registration- Kanye West

The question with this album was what was Mimi really emancipating? Did it have something to do with the nervous breakdowns or was it the fact that she had 3 flops? Whatever it was, The Emancipation Of Mimi was my Album Of The Year. In fact, I might the play the whole album today... [Edited 12/4/05 10:35am] #1 Mariah Carey The Emancipation Of Mimi #2. Common - Be & Kanye West - Late Registration (they are just as good as eachother) Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Floetry-Flo'Ology 2. Mariah Carey-The Emancipation of Mimi 3. Faith-The First Lady The album I am looking forward is Mary J. Blige THe Breakthrough which expected to release in couple weeks. I am looking to see what 06 has it stored.

She sounds a lot like Bjork on that album....they're both from Iceland too Speaking of Bjork I couldn't really get into Drawing Restraint 9.....a lot of fans were like "Medulla's gonna get the least play"....no for me DR9's gettin' the least play. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

mine is between these
Josh Rouse - Nashville Beck - Guero Paul McCartney - Chaos and Creation Ben Folds - Songs For Silverman Some of the best music in 2 or 3 years right now there for me... especially Josh Rouse.. I give him my best for that album.. possibly the best that came out of this year.. that is timeless work. Paul McCartney suprised the heck out of me.. I think he suprised us all with that one.. I will always listen to that record [Edited 12/4/05 21:28pm]

Emiliana Torrini's "Fisherman's Woman" is really something special. It is not as much a Björk album as "Love in the Time of Science" is. Although if you'd have to compare it to a björk album I guess it would be a mix of Debut and an organic picking of "Vespertine". It's just a very delicate album with some amazing production going on. There are many silent songs with beautiful melodies and things like acoustic string and boats creaking and floating on water. It's hard to describe but it sounds like a harbour at night, with magical elements mixed into it. One of the most beautiful album I own, let alone of the best from 2005! and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Mine have 2 B (in no order):
Forsaken by ears with feet, but a very pleasant alternative 2 the rubbish that is played in radio these days... The most atipical Kate Bush album...mind provoking..."WAAASSSHHHIIIINNGG MACHINE" Long wait...the second version endures...Best break-up and don't give a fuck about you album ever! Almost making the list: Almost there...I'm still digesting it! Still American Life was more powerful and visceral. [Edited 12/5/05 6:21am] [Edited 12/5/05 6:25am]

My top five albums of the year 2005:
Kanye West - Late Registration Mariah Carey - The Emancipation of Mimi Common - Be Beck - Guero Coldplay - X&Y The Worst album of 2005: The Ying Yang Twins - USA (United State of Atlanta) I like this thread, but since we're near the end of the year, we need to make a sticky thread for our year-end best of list, where we not only pick the best album, but best single, best band, best male and female singers, best hip-hop act, the comeback of the year, bigest poseur, biggest sellout, the corresponding worst acts, albums and singles, and the artist of the year. Maybe we can call it The Orgeys.
