Rhyme Pays Ice-T 1987
Criminal Minded Boogie Down Productions 1987 Fear Of A Black Planet Public Enemy 1989 Follow The Leader Eric B & Rakim 1988 and the fifth would be a mix consisting of some 1985 Melle Mel and the Furious Five without GM Flash, a bit of Nas´s Illmatic and Stillmatic, definitely Jay Z´s Reasonable Doubt, Mos Def´s Black On Both Sides, Notorius BIG´s Born To Die, Run DMC´s first three albums, NWA´s Straight Outta Compton and Icecube´s AmeriKKKa´s Most Wanted, MC Shan´s debut Album, Afrika Bambaataa and the Soulsonice Force´s Planet Rock album, some UTFO stuff and of course some Master Ace and A Tribe Called Quest and something off Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg....can´t make up my mind about the fifth one. To Cinister Cee:
There was also an instrumental version of Criminal Minded by BDP. Their label back then was kinda shady ( B-Boy Records) and I don´t know if they were even aware of it. Someone must have been, because the remastered version features many of those classic instrumentals. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

I also loved it more when it first dropped, but I think it's aged fine, though in hindsight, their followup, which is easily one of the best hip-hop album ever made, was and IS criminally underlooked and gets better with time . . . There's actually alot of repeats on this thread though... I think we might actually know which albums are essential...for Prince fans! That would be an interesting new thread. "Todo está bien chévere" Stevie

Actually it has aged very well, because the jazz vibe is forever...well past this Lil Jon-inspired bullshit we hear now, that will be gone by the end of 06. I thought about startin a thread on Punks Jump Up vs. C'mon Wit Da Git Down by the Artifacts. Punks Jump up is such a cool title and saying, sorta like shook one, even though the lyrics to shook ones is horrible. I like how Big uses it in the Party and Bullshit song, plus it was funny when Martin used it on his show.
