i didn't like the concert footage edited like it was.

I LOVED that. I hope the released DVD of the whole concert looks just like that.

Oh no, i meant they didn't show the entire performances, they edited them to shorten them out. The actual editing, like the camera angles and such would be aweome for the dvd.

I wonder how many copies she sold lol

Just enough to win her another job as backup singer when she MJ decided to not tour anymore and Nikki Harris left a vacant spot

siedah was quincy jones' new finding. She sang alot on "back on the block" and had a very good solo album out in 1988 called "kiss of life". Great album, i think sosgemini liked that album?

I thought it was cool, but not as good as Truth Or Dare. A few bits made me cringe, and the concert footage was complete butchery! All of the bootleg versions of the show that I have were better than that footage. You just got no concept of what was going on.

It pisses me off abit that people try to deny her the freedom to talk about wahtever she wants to talk about. So fucking what if it sounds stupid to you, its where she's at right now, and lets be honest, i dont think anyone would disagree with what she's saying. Her intentions are good, and I certainly did not watch that movie and feel she was preaching the kabbalah to me. Perhaps being a little moralistic, but in a good way really.

At the end of the day, people love the bitchy madonna the best, but i liked that we still got glimpses of that side of her. The film simply shows a more evolved madonna. Sure it aint as out and out fun as the one of 15 years ago, but she still seems like a pretty cool person. I would, truth be told, rather have seen a full version of the concert however.

It's wierd...I like Madonna more and more as a person than I do 'Madonna Inc'. I just didn't 'get' the Reinvention tour, but the way she explained it as more a 'peformance art' piece threw a whole new light on it and intruiged me.

Her thoughts on Kabbalah I found interesting and genuine, although I'm not so sure that attempting to bring it to the masses as such succeeded or was particularly neccesary, but more power to her for at least sticking her neck on the line.

I thought Lola and Rocco were absolutely adorable but her poetry sucks, bless her. lol

and as for Cloud...yummy. drooling

oh, the movie...

i liked the first half of it. then there was the whole rectum licking contest between madge and michael moore that made me embarrassed for them both. when madonna starts talking politics i get all weepy. she honestly knows very little about politics and she always sounds stupid when she speaks on the subject. i never did see the end. i think i made it to just before she goes to israel.

i should finish watching it sometime but i'm too busy enjoying the new cd to stop and get bored again.

Agreed, but have to say her speech in Israel was pretty damned good actually.

I was expecting it to be a lot more preachy and Kabbala-centric than it ended up. I thought Madonna's performances came off well, and don't remember any where she mimed (it aired about a month ago in the US, so I'm not 100%). Madonna is a great live performer, and I really don't understand how it could be the "worst show ever seen", but to each his/her own. shrug REM is one of my favorite bands, and I saw them last year. The show was disappointing, but I'd put that more on the venue and the fans at the show than the actual band.

As for anyone (let alone a Madonna fan) going to see her show for Sideah, that's just laughable. I know for damn sure I wouldn't pay 100+ dollars/pounds/whatever to see a backup singer. Whatever people want to waste their money on, though.

Oh well, you can get back to going to all of those ridiclious Michael Jackson gatherings where he announces he'll be in town earlier so he gets all of the nutcases riled up and then gets press. I know I'd rather go to a Madonna show/buy a new Madonna CD/appreciate the new Madonna video than stand outside, or even inside a club just to get a glimpse of someone NOT performing. I guess that's just me, again, though.

I'm not even a huge Madonna fan anymore, much less a Madonna apologist, but I still can't understand how people go to such great lengths to discredit anything the woman does. shrug Somehow, I doubt she'd be too upset. Remember, she's not interested in whether you love or hate her; she just wants to push your buttons. Guess she did her job!

Then why bring it up? I honestly did think Siedah outsang her on that song though, but that's just me - and I don't even rate Siedah as a great vocalist anyway, but I did enjoy her 2 solo albums.

I just don't rate Madonna as a great live performer. I've seen her twice now to much disappointment. I like wtahcing her old shows on the DVDs, although I got a Live LP from the Blonde Ambition tour and without the visuals it's painful to sit through. But then again, that's my main gripe with MJ - I don't care about the dancing (much), or the stage bombs, or the screens, or how many other dancers are on stage. If you sound crap live then it ruins the whole thing.

Actually, speaking from my own experiences of seeing her, if I'm mentally comparing her to anybody it's Kylie!

I said that you were compairing Madonna to Jackson at all. All I've ever known you to post here was MJ stuff, though. I just figured that after you were done watching this Madonna thing, you'd be back to lighting candles around your MJ posters, or pushing a statue down the Thames. shrug lol

Must've been quite a spectacle to behold. shrug Not really into that, though. I'd rather see someone faux-masturbate on a bed. cool

Depends on who it is I suppose. 31 year old Madonna, fine. I wouldn't want to see Shane MacGowan masturbating or faux masturbating anywhere.

Well, that goes without saying. Of course, I have no idea who Shane MacGowan is. But I'd imagine I'd feel the same way if I did know.

Not all that schooled on the Pogues, but I'd definitely NOT want to see him doing his thing on stage. He definitely has the right look for Irish Punk music, though.

The LAP performance sucked, simply because it was no where near as good as the Blond Ambition Tour performance, i rate this as her best performance....ever. Siedah couldnt nail it as well as Nikki Harris because the arrangement was shit. The bit where it climaxes with Siedah's vocals & the choir, it hits this minor chord, when really it should be the most "up" part of the song. Aside madonnas nice vocals during the verses (that IGTTYAS didnt show - as they butchered the clip to death), i didnt like this version of LAP.

The funny thing is, the two shows of hers that you enjoyed the least are the one's shes actually sounded really good on. I was genuinely impressed that a 47 yr old woman could do what she did on stage - it must take incredible discipline. She didnt dance like she used to maybe, but she sounded immaculate - and yes she sang everything live but 3 songs.

I have to say i hate the footage on IGTTYAS. Its unwatchable when you know exactly what the show is like.

I'm in a small minority of people who thinks her best tour was the Who's That Girl show. I reckon Blonde Ambition suffers because of her vocals, and The Girle Show looked great, but a bit gimmicky. WTG had a fantastic setlist though and she never compromised her singing in favour of visual treats.

I can't really put my finger on it, but it just seems that she had so much more joy in her voice and passion for what she was singing back then. The squeaky "Minnie Mouse" voice as some people call it may not be technically great, and it's probably not good for your vocal chords singing that way night after night, but it's what made me love her music

Hmmm, have you seen/got the Virgin Tour. Thats the most squeaky she's been live. Her singing is great during that show, some nice 80's dancing as well. I dont like the WTG tour mainly because I hate that era of hers, it just feels really outdated. Probably because its a really poor quality filming of it.

I dont know which version of the BAT you've seen but her singing on the Yokahoma show is brilliant. It was one of the first shows on the tour, and her voice was still intact. Its just a shame the set doesnt look so good. The Nice show is honestly the worst singing of hers Ive ever heard. Unwatchable for me. I dream of the day Warners release a full version of the Paris shows that were filmed properly for Truth Or Dare. Her singing was great during these shows. It seems such a shame that her best tour will always be compromised on reflection by her vocal problems. That said these problems were probably brought on because her voice was always straining due to the highly physical nature of the performance. Ever since then she's completely toned down her dancing.

I've got all of them on VHS/DVD except for Blonde Ambition. The one I saw in full was from Rome I think.

Still, LOL, you sound like me with MJ when talking about concerts. Most people only get to see the one official released one from each tour and judge from that, but the fans always gripe about it being the wrong one. Like the Dangerous Bucharest concert = utter crap cos he had laryngitis disbelief
