I wasn't aware that it was "electro" when I was a 10 year old kid. I just knew it was a kickass song. The cred it gets now makes it even cooler.

i just thought it was a poppy, clubby, sorta hip-hoppy dance song when it first came out...then i think it got revived with "the crying game", and it got a little bit of alternative cred...and now, you hear tons of hipster electro groups making songs sounding like it. i think it's a pretty influential little ditty.

It's so great that even cheap copies would have to be at least interesting.

the entire 'darkdancer' album by the guy who produced madonna's new album sounds like 'let the music play'. lol

Both of those tunes are classic. The other one from that album that I love is My Heart's Divided.

Yeah, that was the third single after "Give Me Tonight". I liked the singles "Do You Wanna Get Away" and "Stronger Together" from Shannon's second album also.

Perhaps more importantly, it launched the entire freestyle genre. Lisa Lisa, The Cover Girls, Sweet Sensation, Sa-fire, etc. all have their roots in Shannon.
