How popular was KLEEER in the USA ?

This is one of my alltime favourite bands .
Just thinking of songs like :
- Get Ready ( 1982 )
- Go For It ( 1984 )
- Intimate Connection ( 1984 )
- Lay Ya Down EZ ( 1985 )
- Never Cry Again ( 1985 )
- She Said She Loved Me ( 1982 )
- Slidin And Glidin ( 1982 )
- Take Your Heart Away ( 1985 )
- Taste The Music ( 1982 )
- Tonight ( with that electro-voice ) ( 1984 )
- You Did It Again ( 1984 )

They went on tour in the UK for the first time in 1985 ,
and couldn't believe the attention they got over there .
All their concerts were sold out in no time .
After that succes they went for a second tour in the year after .
First they had to finish their last album ( Seeekret ) .
In an interview they explained that the exposure in the UK was a world of difference than in the US .

But especially those last 2 albums of them are classic work , produced by native Brazilian producer Eumir Deodato .

Another interesting detail is that Kleeer was introduced and instructed to the
Roland Drum Computer by Madonna .

I'm glad to have catched an tv-interview about them in the UK .
The UK-fans were eagerly waiting for video-clips of the group , but it never saw the daylight .

Lead vocalist Woody Cunningham did two fine albums , not so long ago

I've been a fan for years. they were not that popular i'd say so-so, but known by fans of funk music. Tonight and Intimate Connection were popular radio cuts. You left off the starter De Ting Continues. other's that i dug were Winners and Next Time it's for Real.

Depends on how you define "popular." If popular to you is only Billboard's Hot 100 (pop) chart, then no, they weren't very popular. But between 1979 and 1985, they logged 12 songs on the R&B chart. Those who pay attention know who they are.

They were very popular in my area. The jams I remember getting lots of airplay were:

Winners
Get Tough
Running Back To You
She Said She Loves Me
Andy is a four letter word.

Yesssss!!! "Tonite" and "Intimate Connection" were the Jams back in the day. They were all over r&b radio in the 80's. I loved their music.
