I just couldn't put "Love Won't Wait" on there. Everything else is in such pristine quality that it'd stick out like a sore thumb. Good song though. I'll find somewhere for it. And as far as remixes go, I'm making a separate set of those. wink

And I wholeheartedly agree about "I Want You". It still blows me away to this day. Easily one of her best. And it sounds so good leading into "Sanctuary", it's sick. Try it. biggrin

Yeah id love a perfect quality version. that said, i think the instrumentation on it is naff anyway. I can hear that song in my head as a big camp disco number, like deeeper & deeper. If her and shep had finished it, i reckon it would have been a perfect replacement for something like Dont Stop. IMO its a better song, just needed better production / more work.

Tron, what are you gonna add to the 'Ray Of Light' Deluxe Edition?

I'm figuring that out. It's tough cuz there are so many that could go on either that or "Music". Plus, the album is so long as it is.

I might have to make it a double-disc set. hmmm

eek wow,you must have alot more than "Revenge" and "Like A Flower",huh? lol

Looks great! Cover art is definitely a step up from the official release.

Have you heard the Tupac version of "I'd Rather Be Ya Lover"? Not sure if the quality is all that great, but if you were interested in putting rarities/outtakes on the disc, I thought maybe your interest might be piqued.

My ultimate Madonna collection is three mix tapes of every song that has charted on Billboard's dance chart. Because they are all extended or remix versions it's up to 6 hours long. I'm currently looking for a vinyl copy of "Mother And Father" so I can begin the fourth mix tape ("American Life" - present).

No, not really. But the album's so long anyway, that all you really have room to add is "Has to Be". I used to be able to burn 95 minute discs with these experimental CD's I ordered, but they never work for me anymore. My playlist for the perfect "Ray of Light" was about 94.5 minutes and went something like this...

1. Drowned World/Substitute for Love
2. Swim
3. Ray of Light
4. Candy Perfume Girl
5. Skin
6. Revenge
7. Nothing Really Matters
8. Sky Fits Heaven
9. Shanti/Ashtangi
10. Gone, Gone, Gone
11. Frozen
12. Power of Goodbye
13. To Have and not to Hold
14. Like a Flower
15. Little Star
16. Has To Be
17. Mer Girl

I loved that mix!

Actually, that's one I don't have. I think I'm somewhat lacking in the unreleased Madonna remixes department.

Does anybody have or know of a comprehensive list of official remixes, released and unreleased? I'd like to know what I'm missing.

Updated with Erotica.

Ah...this album. I love it just as much today. There were so many new things she was trying out around this time - hip-hop, house, jazz, reggae, sexual explicitness. Even though it's very much of it's time, it still sounds fresh today. She may equal this album, but she'll never better it.

Unfortunately, because the album's so long, I wasn't able to include much in the way of extras. All I really added was the Just Say Roe track "Goodbye to Innocence", the extended version of "Bad Girl" and the long version of "This Used to Be My Playground". With just those 3 changes, it already comes in @ 81 and half minutes. I left off "Did You Do It?" cuz it's totally unnecessary. My biggest regret is that I wasn't able to include "Justify My Love", "Rescue Me" and "The Beast Within". They fit perfectly with this album and I can't see placing them with "Like a Prayer" or especially "I'm Breathless". lol

If my 100 minute CD's still worked, I'd probably place "Justify My Love" 2nd, "The Beast Within" last, and "Rescue Me" right after "Rain". They tie together nicely with the thunderstorms and it sounds good before "Why Is It So Hard" too. But unfortunately, there's no room. Maybe I'll make a 2nd disc including remixes and those songs. I imagine I'll have to do the same thing with "Ray of Light".

So anyway, here's my art...

Nice choice for the cover. Even though that damn gold tooth bugs me, I've always loved that photograph. You could have saved room for one more track by leaving off In This Life. lol

This is also a great remix era for her. I had a 2 LP promo DJ set of remixes for Deeper and Deeper, that is pretty pricey to come by - that I gave away to some lucky Orger.

Incidentally, which version of Waiting do you prefer? I like the album version, but I think the remix on the Rain maxi-single is better.

Yeah, "In This Life" kinda sucks, but I don't hate it. I would miss having it on there I think.

Of course, on my iPod, I can put as much in one folder as I like. But I still love old-fashioned CD burning. lol I like the limits. I like figuring out a tracklist. I like making the art. I like it all. I'm working on a remix disc for this era now. biggrin

I adore the album version. It's been ages since I've listened to the single remix. I'll have to refresh my memory. nod

from a personal stand point.

i don't like the inclusion of the Something To Remember tracks because they are part of a separate era.

You mean on "Bedtime Stories"?

Yeah, I'd thought of that. But my point in making these is to cover as much territory as possible. I like to put all of the non-album material with whichever project it fits with. I'm sure I'll make a single-disc Evita, but those Something to Remember tracks definitely don't fit with that. And there's so few of them, that they don't take up too much room. Plus, sonically, aesthetically and lyrically, they fit right in with Bedtime Stories. They seem like a perfect extension of that work to me. Try listening to 'em together...you'll like it. wink
