can you share your thoughts on the new CD? Im a huge fan, to the extent of finding bootlegs etc., but ive avoided anything to do with INXS ft.JD...i havent even listened to Pretty Vegas in full yet...

Anyhow, share your thoughts...also who were the principal song writers on the new CD now that Michael is gone...?

i bought it even though i hated the concept of how they came up w/ their new singer. I thought it was crass and tasteless... but i've always loved INXS and I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Couldn't really listen to it... it sounds like karaoke to me.

I have it and have only listened to half of it. It's ok, I'd much rather listen to the older INXS stuff.

I give JD a "E" for effort.

I think 50% of the time on the record he tries to sound like Hutchence and he fails.

I think the other half of the record he tries to sound like "himself" and it is weird. He is too loud for me. I'm shocked the person mixing these songs didn't throw his voice in the back of the track more. His voice overpower's the Farris' music and it is weird at times.

At times I just want to say "Calm down dude."

I like the tracks "Devil's Party," "Pretty Vegas," "Perfect Strangers," and "G-D's Top Ten." The track "Afterglow" is also worth mention.

However.. I think this disc comes nowhere near to anything Hutchence did in his lifetime with the band.

Bottom Line: The die-hard fans of the show RockStar: Inxs will eat this CD up. But when it is compared to the stuff Michael Hutchence did, it will not even come close.

I bet the Farris brothers wrote the music and JD did the lyrics.

I know for "Pretty Vegas" JD wrote most of the lyrics and Andrew Farris did the music and might have helped with some of the lyrics.

The song is catchy but dang..I still miss Hutchence

J.D. only wrote the lyrics for three tracks if my memory is correct (don't have it in front of me). A few tracks were collaborations with the Matrix folk, yup, the folks behind Avril... so that should give you some indication as to the direction of the album. A track by just Andrew, a track written with the producer of the cd... Seems like most of the record was done before J.D. got in on it. As a fan since the early eighties I guess I qualify as "old school" fan. The record sounds like a blatant attempt to be "current" and as a result is the least "INXS" sounding record they've ever made. The record is kind of generic in places and the production is big and glossy. A few tracks with J.D. blatantly trying to sound like Hutch, and a few where he just sounds like himself, with that annoying crooning thing he does. Fans of the show will probably make excuses to like the record, and old school fans will hate it. It's not that it's horrible, but it's pretty generic, and it's definitely not great. As the choice of J.D. indicated, and the album bears out, the band is definitely concerned with being popular and current rather than turning out a creative and interesting record. The result is pretty bland, with the "INXS" personality (so to speak) sacrificed to the overblown and glossy production. Oh well. We'll see if they even make it to another record I guess.
