Contactmusic.com reports that Björk is currently taking a 10-week course to captain a 30 ton boat, and when completed she will embark on an epic journey with her family. "It has always been my ambition. I have homes all over the place at the moment - Iceland, England and France - but I'd love for my home to be a boat so that I can take it wherever I go. The course I'm taking tests whether I have the balls to do this. So I'm having to work hard and behave myself. My life's always changing - I'm constantly looking for new things. I'm never still. My theory is that life on a boat could be great."

Björk couldn't wait to turn 40 last month, because she learned how to be middle-aged from her grandmother. The singer admires the way her Grandma handled the landmark, and hopes being 40 will bring her the same happiness.

"I'm ready for it. When I was a girl, my mum was a bit of a wild child and a hippy. Her life was chaotic. She didn't know who she loved or what she wanted to do. But when my grandmother was 40 she was sussed. She'd feed the people she loved, but also lead a fabulous life. She was a painter and she used to sneak off for a couple of weeks with a lot of red wine and just paint. She had the best of both worlds. I think 20 isn't cool, 30 is a mess and being 40 is nice. I'm there now. I am a good older person."

Interesting, but is she planning to park the thing somewhere and live on it, or take a break from her career and sail it all over the world, or merely use it as a way to travel between countries and continents? She kinda alludes to different goals in the quote...at any rate good luck to her!

But I like her attitude about getting older, too bad everyone doesn't have such a positive attitude about it. Maybe I should print this and re-read it next April when I turn 40, in case I get down about it for some reason!
