Rock n Roll HOF Announces New Inductees Rock Hall of Fame Announces Inductees
Associated Press NEW YORK - Black Sabbath, Miles Davis and the Sex Pistols are among five musical legends to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation will hold its induction ceremony March 13 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Manhattan, the organization announced Monday. Also to be inducted into the class of 2006: 1980s New Wave band Blondie and Southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd. Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss, who founded A&M records in 1962, will receive a lifetime achievement award in the non-performer category. Inductees into the side-men category will be announced at a later date. Musicians, industry professionals and journalists vote on the nominations. Artists are eligible to be inducted into the Rock Hall after at least 25 years have passed since their first record was released. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

You're kidding, right? Ever hear of a place called Max's Kansas City, or maybe a quaint little bungalow called CBGBs? If Michael Jackson is considered rock'n'roll, Debbie Harry sure as hell is.

They are the most deserving of the bunch for a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They should have been inducted their first year of eligibility! I don't like the way they are referred to as an "80s New Wave" band when most of their classic material is from the 70s. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

wow.... well I mean miles is primarily a JAZZ musician. He did pioneer jazz fusion and was probably more of an influence on rock than any other jazz guy, but he's primarily part of a different genre

He played jazz fusion from the late 60's onward so he arguably had just as many important rock oriented albums as he does traditional Jazz albums. His induction is long overdue, there is no justification for that oversight.

I think a better question is why is Blondie in so fast. Donna Summer, who inspired Debbie, will never make it in there. For shame!

the hall votes they way they and i don't opine about who gets in or who gets left out...until now
The Sex Pistols do not belong. One album+, a weak ass EEUU tour that they never finished, talk about the hype machine on OVERDRIVE...were they not created by that "Buffalo Girl" around the outside guy...MacDonald something or other...Bay City Rollers anyone? I have more respect for PIL than that bogus poseur(sp) shit they fronted They influenced what...absolutely nothing ...the GREAT Velvet Underground took care of that in the 60's There are other PUNK bands that rocked for real...if they would have ever hung out in NY or LA they would have got their asses kicked by the chicks there

[Edited 11/28/05 22:04pm] I completely agree with that...so let's hope they have some cool presenters/inductors to pick up the "slack"
