Your Ultimate Bowie Collections

I just burned a CD which includes my all time favourite Bowie songs! cloud9
I just love its flow... stoned
I had to leave some songs off because of time limitation - I wanted a single disc compilation... But I think I'll extend it onto two discs with songs like "Loving The Alien", "Heroes", "Candidate/Sweet Thing (Reprise)", "Chant Of The Ever Circling Skeletal Family", "It's No Game (Part 1)", "Stay", "Aladdin Sane"... cool

Here comes the tracklist:

Bring Me The Disco King
Word On A Wing
Sweet Thing
Lady Stardust
Time
Quicksand
The Secret Life Of Arabia
Teenage Wildlife
Strangers When We Meet
Without You
Win
Wild Eyed Boy From Freecloud
Life On Mars?
Space Oddity
Big Brother
My Death (Live)

total running time: 79'38

So, this is my "Ultimate Bowie Collection"!!! smile
And I'd really like to see what yours are, Bowie fans!!! smile
Please, post your single disc compilations!!! smile
Thanx!!! cool

life on mars?
quicksand

ARRRGH, see, i'm already including almost half of 'hunky dory'...i can't do it! lol

I've just never tried to make a single disc compilation. I've done it for specific eras, but never for his entire career.

I like yours though. Lots of my favorites in there. biggrin

I'm still in Bowie kindergarten. One of my favorite Orgers (you guys wouldn't know him, he's very quiet biggrin) sent me a massive set that I'm still working my way through bite by delicious bite.

So far, though, my favorites are:

Ashes to Ashes
Breaking Glass
Queen Bitch
Stay
Let's Dance
Young Americans
Under Pressure
Jean Genie
Word on a Wing
Wild is the Wind
Cat People (12 inch = love)

...off the top of my head.

somedays, as far is bowie is concerned, i would simply recommend putting the song "stay" on auto-repeat. that song is HOTT.

...which is exactly what I did on the day I discovered it. I don't think I'll ever forget that feeling as it was hitting me. It was something like, "wait, what the fuck???" lol

If all I was able to do with all those discs I sent you was turn you on to that one song, my work is complete. biggrin

Fortunately, it sounds like you're digging on lots more and digesting it all slowly. This makes me very happy! Bowie's music is hugely important to me, and I'm always thrilled to share it with someone who can appreciate digging into it for the first time. It's my extreme honor and pleasure to facilitate that. nod

These days, it would be 80 minutes of the song 'Station to Station' on a loop. I could listen to that track for days on end!!

Really, that entire album is perfection. I'd honestly give all the tracks a perfect 10.

It's my favorite Bowie album by far, but I'd have to say that I'm not such a huge fan of "Word on a Wing". I think the rest of the album is tops, but the song just never caught me the way the rest of the album did.

omg

This song makes me wish Bowie would do a whole album of spiritual/religious music. It's utterly beautiful, from the music to the lyrics to the meaning. What a pretty way to describe prayer:

Lord, I kneel and offer you
My word on a wing

not to mention

Just because I believe
Don't mean I don't think as well

love

Seriously, thanks so much. I'm having quite a ride and it's thrilling to have that "new-love" feeling again. It's what I envy new Prince fans for.

I LOVE that line, but I am very picky when it comes to music, and more than just a little anal; the line directly following in the song doesn't seem to fit with it: "Don't have to question everything in heaven or hell". I understand how the line works, but I still just don't think it belongs.

shrug As crazy as it sounds, I have to work really hard not to let somethign like that ruin a song. I almost couldn't listen to 'Shy' by Prince because of that ridiclious "they'll call me a chicken" line.

I guess I'm a freak!

I am the same way... there are lines in certain songs that I otherwise love that just drive me bonkers.

Good example: Angel by Eurythmics. The references to Elvis Presley just ruin the song for me.
