i dont understand whats wrong with her buying that for her dog. what, things other then humans dont deserve luxury? i mean humans buy things like that all the time that are thousands of dollars overpriced, which they dont need either, i mean why not pick on her shoes which are probably ridiculously overpriced which you could get in australia for 5 bucks.

It really is sickening, isn't it?

Some people have no idea what a pure waste of money something like that is.

i wouldn't say its sickening or even a waste; spending all that money on a dog carrier is just odd to me. i really don't have a problem with somebody doing whatever they want with their own money. shrug i just think its odd to have a designer bag to put your dog into, lol! i have lots of designer bags, sunglasses, shoes, clothes, etc but it seems natural to put ME into those items. i have to pause for a second when i see someone putting an animal in a burberry plaid sweater or louis vuitton bag. then i laugh and tell myself to stop worrying about another person's spending habits. lol

i can totally understand. i'm actually a chick that's all for balance, though. i think i kinda make a decent living, and i guess because of my job i'm up to my eyeballs in designer luxery goods all day, every day, so it doesn't freak me out too much when i see some model loading little fí-fí into a LV bag while we prepare to fly off to some god forsaken location...however on the other side, as much as i can be down with people choosing the luxury leather pet goods of their choice.... honey, i just saw the pet section for TARGET online and almost had a coronary!!!! for 15 bucks they carry the most ADORABLE doggy sweaters, trenchcoats, and parkas!!!! i don't even have a dog and looking at all those cute accessories made me just whet my whistle and think about how i can get a family member to get me that stuff while i'm overseas!!! even as gifts for friends here! i think it's because dogs are such an interactive part of people's lives in europe: we take 'em EVERYWHERE... on holiday, to the coffeehouse for latte machiato (and in summer) they sit on terraces with us while we dine with friends at the bistros, often with the proprietors offering a dish of water to cool them off while they sit at our feet or under the table. they run alongside us in the rain while we take our bikes to the local markets, and as cute as can be, sit in the most extraordinarily patient fashion while their owners GO INTO THE GROCERY STORES- either directly outside the front door (or in bad weather) in the front entrance! the sit at attention, wait for you to get back and then they'll carry a little bag for ya around the neck with something small (like a toilet paper roll)...if i'm able to have a doggy like that i think i'd be the biggest sucker of all, buying up everything i could get my hands on from Target to yes, Louis Louis... or it could be that i'm just a spoily spoily kinda girl, though. i like luxury gifts in all forms, whether inexpensive or a bit more on the pricey side...i wouldn't dare put a gucci collar on a pooch ( because it's almost too "look at me i have a label that need not be used in a functional way"), BUT i like simple leather ones from coach (as well as the coach guarantee that fixes or replaces its' merch if it doesn't stand the test of time), but more than that, i'm sorry, but the doggy coats from Target RULE!

jeezus, i am rambling here, but i think i'm trying to say that i'm in favor of luxury goods for man (or woman's) best friend, heck- no matter what it costs lol! i say let's hear it for the doggies razz and give them an equal opportuniy to all things comfy as repayment for their uncinditional love and devotion ! biggrin !

It's a shame about their marriage. I dunno. On one hand, it's kind of difficult to keep the media out of a couple's "marriage" when their claim to fame, outside of moderate success in music, is their marriage. But then again, it's sad when any couple decides to call it a day. The bottom line is that they could have been just regular people that couldn't make their marriage work, so maybe all the press prying or just living that Hollywood lifestyle wouldn't have made much difference in the outcome. I'm sure it didn't help matters though.

About the dog carrier: I bet Jessica got it for free. It always amazes me how much celebrities get from designers for absolutely NOTHING. I remember hearing one actress say that when she was struggling no one would even give her a MEAL, but when she made-it, she was getting designer stuff left and right. Even Madonna said that MOST of her designers clothes she NEVER pays for. That's so ironic to me coz obviously someone like Madonna could AFFORD to pay.

the houses give those things to high profile celebrities as a cheap and easy tax write-off, and, most importantly for them, because it's free advertising for their merchandise. doesn't make it right, but it's almost like getting a free celebrity endorsement that will increase interest and sales among the masses for a specific item . it's easier than having to pay a celebrity a million dollars to appear in an ad campaign that usually is only for an overseas market, or in the case of an american ad campaign, one that would amount to several millions of dollars and appealing to a very limited audience. but get the celeb of your choice in the movie premiere, music awards, or kamakaze papparazzi photo of the week and that image is beamed all around the world to at least 500 magazines for free for an unlimited run...it's just business, sadly...but truly

but just remember; balance is the key, darlin'. after you go to neiman's and get that designer collar or carrier, you be sure to hook Fido up with a nice sporty sweater or classic trench from Target for when he accompanies you all over town unprotected without complaint in crappy weather!....it's important to teach him that mommy also cares for function as well as style...at a competitive price point, LOL!

you have to excuse me, but i'm hardcore on a dog trip right now...i think it's time to get one in '06. if you get one, maybe you can hook me up with Target shipping, then i'll hook you up with any number of ridiculous dog accessories people have over here; i can get 'cha good doggy boots for when wanna try mountain trekking together for example, or that flask thingy you need for them to carry the booze that'll keep you warm while you're lollygagging on ski slopes lol lol lol

....now we'll get back to our regularly scheduled programming on the Nick & Jessica Split:pc: with no more fab dog accessory talk cool ...
