Usher's Movie Bombs...Graffiti Bridge for the 00's

Usher's movie "In The Mix" horribly underperformed this Thanksgiving weekend, making less than $5 million. The reviews were pretty dreadful and I think we can safely say his potential for leading man roles is seriously in question. It's not 2004 any more Usher so you can take all those damn Grammies and accolades you stole from P. last year and go home.
All good things they say never last...

Sorry dude, the numbers for the flick may be bad but this was no Graffiti Bridge. GB SUCKED. The acting was horrible and the plot was way too corny.
Usher didn't do all that badly and though it was a "dramadey", its watchable. It'll make for a good rental for the late teen/20-something crowd. Usher's a bit of a ham but he knows how to deliver lines. If anything this movie will allow for him to take on more acting roles and get away from the "kid" roles. He's actually acting instead of singing and dancing through the whole movie.
GB is to this day one of the worst musicals I've seen onscreen. "In The Mix" had a plot. The actors ranged from good to decent and it kept pace. My biggest complaint was its too sappy. Lots of eyecandy, though (especially K.D. Aubert. drool I didn't hate it but it rode the line between drama and comedy and didn't really hit on either one. Kevin Hooks was doing his Chris Tucker thing(as always). I left the theater knowing tht it wasn't a complete waste of time.

The reviews were dreadful? According to Ebert, they wouldn't even let critics screen the movie, so it got their "Wagging Finger of Shame". At least "Graffatti Bridge" was campy and had great music. This movie was just a quick cash in and it failed! Guess Clear Channel does not own studios. BTW, this will not be viewed as a bomb like "Glitter" or "Swept Away" and why? Usher is a man! The fact that it bombed will just be ignored by the public.

glitter is the new showgirls...horribly bad in a watchable way...

swept away was panned because people expected a certain quality from guy ritchie and instead that got the horrors one usually expects from madge..

theres really no story here with usher's film..it wasnt hugely pushed like Glitter..It's not a crash and burn ala swept away. the studio was smart to do some minor publicity and it looks like they will make a profit from the film (expecially once released on dvd).
Space for sale...
