It was after her second album One In a Million came out. It was in late 1996.

That would've been my ideal time to see her. I LOVE that album.

She was off the hook. Beautiful.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

doh! Oh I get it now--HS 'cos he likes 'em young. That's funny. smile
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

When I was younger, I was into all that pop shit you'd hear on KIIS FM, so people I remember seeing were:

Christina Aguilera (before she was really famous)
TLC (Christina opened the show)
Lenny Kravitz

But over the years I've been getting into heavier and heavier shit as I got older and kinda grew into a metalhead, so some bands I've seen that I can remember are:

Still Remains (2x)
Trivium (2x)
The Agony Scene
It Dies Today (3x)
Caliban
God Forbid
Soilwork
The Black Dahlia Murder
Mastodon
As I Lay Dying
Killswitch Engage
Rob Zombie
Mudvayne
Slipknot
Scars Of Tomorrow
Sworn Enemy
Throwdown
Bullet For My Valentine

And the lesser known hardcore and metal bands:

Full Blown Chaos (2x)
Agents Of Man
Winter Solstice
Birth And Burial
Jacknife

Haven't seen Prince yet boxed but would love to.

Yeah, the names are kinda cool now that I look at all of them. Cooler than the actual bands for the most part. The one I would recommend is Faith And The Muse. I remember the first time I saw them live, when they played their song "All Lovers Lost", every member pulled out a violin and the entire song was performed on strings. It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen/heard. Subsequent live renditions of that song have been all percussion which was also very cool. Their sound is very classical leaning which might appeal to you. Their website: http://www.mercyground.com/

That sounds really great. I'll check it out. I have a feeling I'd be into goth if I explored it. I used to listen to Siouxie a lot in my younger years.

But seriously, that list is going up on my fridge and next time I want to write a poem, I'll have it for inspiration. biggrin

If you ever actually get around to buying some of their music, I'd recommend the 'Evidence Of Heaven' album first. It has the track "Denn Die Todten Reiten Schnell" which is one of my top 10 favorite songs of all time. Hauntingly beautiful.

Thanks! I like the sound of their work. I love the dense droning strings in "The Burning Season" especially.

Very cool! 'This Burning Season' is to me their second best album, but I admittedly haven't listened to it as much as I should have. Especially considering how much I loved the previous album. And especially considering there's a mini poster for 'Burning Season' hanging in my cubicle at work. Yeah, I definitely need to play that CD again tonight.

It kinda blows my mind that I'm talking to someone on a Prince site about Faith And The Muse. lol

Donny & Marie Osmond (That's right--I'll loved me some Donny back in the day when I was about 8! biggrin )
The Jets (at the county fair, before they were "famous" lol )

My sister got to go see the Osmonds, but I was about five, so I couldn't. I loved Donny even then. Ahhh....

And this reminded me that I, too, saw the Jets at a county fair!
let me come over it's a beautiful day to play with you in the dark
