Any news on the MJ charity single?

Last I saw about this was back around the 4th of November, and the article said the plan was to release the single that month. Are we any closer to hearing this darn thing!? confuse

Michael Jackson is close to completing his charity single for Hurricane Katrina relief and hopes to release the song sometime this month, his spokeswoman said Thursday.

From his new base in the Middle East, Jackson has been working through global satellite and phone connections with the 12 recording artists who are participating, spokeswoman Raymone K. Bain told The Associated Press.

“All that remains is for two or three more artists to do their tracks, and Michael will then add his vocals,” Bain said in a phone interview. “He is now on the fast track, and we’re happy with the progress.”

Last week, Jackson coordinated recording sessions with artists who were visiting Los Angeles for the Black Entertainment Television awards and went to studios to record their parts.

Meredith O’Sullivan, a spokeswoman for rapper Snoop Dogg, and Sonia Muckle, who represents singer R. Kelly, said those artists have participated in the recording sessions.

Jackson is the writer and producer of the track, Bain said.

She added that Jackson has rewritten the song several times and is changing the title from the original, “From the Bottom of My Heart,” to a new, as yet undisclosed title. Jackson found he did not need as many artists to participate as originally planned, she said. The final tally will be about 12, she said.

Jackson’s plan is to provide disaster aid through three funds: the Bill Clinton-George Bush Katrina Fund, the Push-Excel Hurricane Katrina College Relief Fund and a disaster fund set up by the National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences.

What's REALLY funny (or maybe "pathetic" would be a better word) is when you look back at the original announcement on the 6th of September:

http://www.mjnewsonline.c...lief-song/

Within 24 hours, Mr. Jackson will be reaching out to other recording superstars asking that they join him in this project to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina

Washington, D.C. ……. In response to the widespread devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina, Recording Superstar Michael Jackson has been moved to pen a song, with the working title, “From the Bottom of My Heart.”

Hoping to rekindle the success of “We Are the World,” which he wrote and produced, and which raised millions of dollars for aid to Africa, Mr. Jackson will be enlisting, within the next 24 hours, the involvement of other recording superstars to join him in this project. It is his intention to record this record within the next two weeks.

“It pains me to watch the human suffering taking place in the Gulf Region of my country,” says Mr. Jackson. “My heart and prayers go out to every individual who has had to endure the pain and suffering caused by this tragedy. I will be reaching out to others within the music industry, to join me in helping to bring relief and hope to these resilient people who have lost everything.”

The song will be recorded on 2 Seas Records, a label owned by Prince Abdulla Hamad Alkhalifa of Bahrain. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

This is just a joke. I couldn't care less about this so called single. If MJ cared too, it would've been out within a couple of weeks. I'm bored to death of even hearing about this single. If it ever sees the light of day, I doubt I'll go out of my way to hear it.

I think it's safe to say this project has been canned.... or at least it should be.

I think the song was finished a month ago, but the problem is: Michael has no record deal. He can't put it out on 2 Seas Records. They can't distribute it in the whole world. I see it the same way coming as with "What More Can I Give" - in a year or so it will be released on the internet and you can download ist for 99 cent.

I think Michael should do the official things first (signing a record deal etc.) and then announce new music. He can't announce things when he has no ability to release them. Even if it's not his fault.

He's one of the very biggest-selling artists of all time, he doesn't have a record contract, can't seem to establish any other means by which to release music, but somehow he bears no responsibility for the situation? confuse If Prince can sell music via download off his own website, or even get it to other download stores including iTunes, without the support of a record label, why can't MJ do it too?

jacko needs his head tested. No wonder he is on debt. He barely bothers to release albums anymore, and then he finds out he has money problems.

Point is, mike, forget the charity single now and do a album pronto.

he has so much unreleased music, he could just do a "crystal ball" just to show his fans he still cares. All i want form him is music, and he never delivers.

Maybe he should die and thus his fans will get loads of new music. lol

He is pretty screwed he will be broke in 2-3yrs!!

He owes $240mil debt but he owns the catalogue worth $500mil

Remeber he had zero debt in 1998 so in 7yrs he spend 240$mil damn!!

but BOA sold his debt to some leeaches which gives him breathing room

but these guys want to get hold of the catalogue if he defaults on his debt he might be in real trouble!!!

He needs to tour!!!
but not be wasteful like b4 when he toured b4 he had a plane and helicopter on standby and all the other excess he always does!!
