Does anyone remember the 80 Rn'B band DreamBoy. They had hits with "Don't Go," in early 1984 and also "I Promise (I Do Love You).

I definately remember "Don't Go". It was a great slow jam. When Ready For The World released their first single "Tonight", I thought it was Dreamboy. Very similar sound.

I really like both songs. I'm surprised that I've never seen their name on any of the "Prince wannabes" or "sound a likes" threads...It sounded to me like they were trying to re-create Prince's sound (Do Me, Baby)on "I Promise (I Do Love You)". hmmm

"Don't Go" reminds me of The Time's "Oh, Baby".

I have their debut album on vinyl.Contains the hit slow jam "Don't Go",but my favorite song is the second single "Walk The Streets".Their music was heavily influenced by the Minneapolis Sound, and the lead singer was terrible, but I liked their album for awhile.
