Yes, I saw your initial request. From hopespringseternal at MJJForum, as posted Nov. 9, 2005: I asked a friend of mine about Prince's and Usher's catalogue sales from last week...Prince sold 6300 CD's including his last album and Usher sold only 1700 CD's. This was a one time deal so I won't be able to provide this kind of information weekly, okay. quote] 6300 isnt bad i thats close to madonnas numbers but her numbers r up becasue of all this hype this week musicology wasnt a flop it did pretty good even without including the giveaways and there was not much marketing money spent on it !! for an independent artist which is pretty good. He made real money from sales of musicology cd his motive is profit and not hype or fame!!

USA
As per Hanboo @ UKMix and hopespringseternal at the MJ Forum, Michael Jackson scanned 18,000 units in the USA for the week ending December 18th, 2005. This figure does not include any DVD titles like Number Ones, HIStory On Film: Volume 2, Live In Bucharest: The Dangerous Tour, Greatest Hits: HIStory, etc. If it did, Michael's weekly SoundScan total would probably be around 25,000 units or higher. No Soundscan figures available at this time since it's the holidays. Thanks hope! [Edited 12/30/05 19:42pm]

USA
MJ SoundScan Update Neilsen SoundScan sales for the week ending December 25th, 2005. ...courtesy of hopespringseternal and Hanboo. Great news as MJ sold approximately 35,000 units (est.) last week. This figure handily beats Michael's best Soundscan week of 2005 which was back during the week ending June 19th, 2005 when he sold 27,166 units the week after his vindication in court. CD's: 25,300 (Sales figure confirmed) DVD's: 10,000 (Sales Estimate) [Edited 12/30/05 19:33pm]

When you add up the USA Soundscan sales for the past two weeks, it shows MJ shifted over 60,000 units. Nice!

*Note: This tally does not include sales for The Ultimate Collection (4 CD/1 DVD), single sales, certain music DVD titles (eg. The One, Dangerous: The Short Films, etc.), material recorded with The Jacksons, and Motown era solo and Jackson 5 albums. Weekly sales information for those titles is not available at this time. How come these are never included. I can see maybe why the J5 material is never included as Motown was stingly with record sales and ceritificatons, but why not Jacksons material. They were released on the same label as his adult solos and Triumph, Live and Victory were all released between Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad. PRINCE: Always and Forever

I agree. I think I'll start a new one once the cumulative 2005 SoundScan figures for each artist are available (MJ, Madonna, Mariah, Whitney, Janet, Cher.) Happy New Year Voices! Enjoy reading ya.

The reason why is because my friend JRKing can only get SoundScan info for the artists and albums listed above. I agree that it would be nice to know how much the MJ and J5 Motown catalog has sold during the Soundscan era.

if u counted his entire catalogue u'd maybe reach a figure of close to 100,000 units in those two weeks, and thats just the U.S. His catalogue is the strongest seller in the UK and various other European countries. He could essentially have sold over 200,000 albums in that two week period.
MJ over, i dont think so.

When People say "MJ is over" They mean on his budget and his accomodations for a marketable record that makes $$$ for the company. I love how MJ fans always try to blame someone else why Michael spends so much. This guy is a ditz when it comes to spending. He doesn't have any IDEA on how much he spends per year/month/day on his projects.
And yet MJ fans keep defending Michael and pointing the finger back. NO ONE can make money on Michael anymore. Because he's a train wreck. Even his tours were VEGAS monstrosity's that were lip synched anyways. Michael is too unstable to be a legitimate seller because of his astral budget of what he wants and demands from everyone. So many people walked away from him and with good reason. WHY on earth would a label want to make a Michael Jackson record if it's going to cost them 10 million to record? Michael may be higher than Axl Rose level but still you fans need a reality check who stalk other music boards gloating about Michael. Dead that "Well, it takes alot to money record with Producers" BLAH BLAH BLAH...Not that much, Edison. That's the sad reality. Michael Jackson still spends all that MONEY given to him on bullshit and fans still blame it on someone else. Guess how many people walked away from Michael? As many people (probably more) as Axl Rose. Why did they walk from Michael? Simple answer:Tired of Bullshit/stress/time/energy invested in the MJJ trainwreck. NO ONE wants to deal with Michael except the fans who incidentally don't deal with Michael they just cheer with their "Invincible" Pom Pom's. And you want some more "icepick to the chamber of your heart" truth? No matter how much money Michael has he is always going to spend it frivously away on Bougie things that he won't use and then he will have the gall to sit up and say "Im doin everything I can for the children" Stay in Bahrain,Michael. We don't miss this "you". Hell, you don't even miss yourself. Case closed.
