For Those Who Like To Groove.....

.....then you need to give it up for this old jam...."For Those Who Like To Groove"..... by Ray Parker Jr. and Raydio.

I remember hearing this song for the first time in the summer of 1980.I bought their single "Two Places At A Same Time" and it was on the B side. But pretty soon,R&B stations began playing "For Those Who Like To Groove" and it became a hit in it's own right.

And there's another funky instrumental similar to it on their album "A Woman Needs Love" called "Still In The Groove".

You know it! Just trying to wake this place up today. I was wondering when I was going to get another response to this song. I think a lot of people remember it but didn't know the name of it because it was an instrumental.

'Two Places At The Same Time' is my favorite Ray Parker Jr. and Raydio album. In addition to "For Those Who Like To Groove" and the hit title track, the album also includes jams like "It's Time To Party Now","Everybody Makes Mistakes" and their finest slow jam ever "Tonight's The Night".

Damn,I'm gonna have to find this on CD headbang

Those Raydio albums were released on Cd in Japan a few years ago, but once again(Dammitt!!), they went out of print!! I don't know why it's so hard to just put these CDs out domestically....I guess most labels don't want to be bothered, beyond a greatest hits compilation....

That's a shame, isn't it? How hard can it be to simply remaster these albums and put them on CD? And I don't mean in Japan (lol),release this stuff right here in America, goddamit! I shouldn't have to pay $30 for an expensive import.

This is the JAM! Back in the day, an artist/band could release an instrumental and actually get airplay. Nowadays, unless you're Jeff Beck or Joe Satriani...

Ray did admit in a interview that this jam was influenced by "One Nation". He got inspired after seeing them live. Both are good jams.
