Top 10 Female Artists

I know these lists are shit, but I need some Ideas. I just realised some of my favourite artists are Women, but overall I don't have as much female music as I'd like. I won't bother telling you who I like, just hit me with some artists and sample songs. I await your recommendations. So hurry up biggrin

MeShell Ndegeocello is definitely one of the most creative female musicians-textwriters-performers-singers in the past ten years.. And let's not forget the greatest singer- Chaka Khan..

Is Donna Summers really one of your favorites? Cuz if she is, you should know that she's a singular Summer. wink I'm listing my favorites in alphabetical order, so none of their feelings get hurt:

*Mary J Blige - anything from My Life or Mary

*Chaka Khan - recommended solo songs, Move Me No Mountain, Love Has Fallen on Me, Through the Fire, Nights in Tunisia

*Alison Krauss - not a bad album. Try New Favorite for a sample of her music

*Madonna - I don't need to fill you in on this chick. She's all over this forum.

*Sinead O'Connor - I Am Stretched on Your Grave, I Want Your Hands on Me, Troy, Jerusalem, Jealous

*Dolly Parton - Jolene, Tennessee Mountain Home, It's All Wrong, But It's Alright, Coat of Many Colors, Light of the Clear Blue Morning, Just Because I'm a Woman

*Diana Ross - Upside Down, Touch Me in the Morning, Reach Out and Touch, The Boss, Once in the Morning

*Bessy Smith - I Ain't Got Nobody, Good Ole Wagon, Weeping Willow Blues, so many others. Not a single bad recording.

*Donna Summer - Summer Fever, Could It Be Magic, Bad Girls, Love to Love You Baby, Try Me I Know We Can Make It, I Feel Love

*Dionne Warwick - Everything with Bacharach/David is superb! Don't Make Me Over, Anyone Who Had a Heart, Walk on By, Reach Out for Me, This Girl's in Love with You, Always Something There to Remind Me, Do You Know the Way to San Jose
