Johny Guitar Watson Any fan here? What do you think of him? I think he is great but i only know an album of him. |

His 70s period is what he's generally best know for (Ain't That A Bitch, Real Mother For Ya, etc.).
But stuff he recorded in the 50s & 60s has been recently re-released...

i didn't know much about his blues roots in the beginnin till i heard "gangster of love" from his 1976 "giant" album. he was in the same league as t-bone walker kenny burrell and charlie christian as the roots of black music in dallas. | |

Johnny G is/was the man!! Multi-talented guitarist/ keyboard player. Imo he made some of the most enjoyable bluesy, funky, jazzy music ever. 'A Real Mother For Ya' is one of my all-time fave songs. Especially, when he sings the line, 'Dance to the music that the DJs play', and then an aside half off-mike, grudgingly, 'Well, all right'. I know you wouldn't see Johnny down the disco just digging that mechanical muzak! And you gotta love the cover to that album! 
And those guitar licks are delicious. Too cold!!  | |
