you act like those are the only two options an artist has..prince doesnt have to leave masterpieces up to "chance". he could nuture and cultivate an album until its a masterpiece. just like kate bush did (see anxiety's comment) or sade (who on average takes seven years per album).



In Prince's case I don't think he can that easily. That's what I meant to say, the song is in his head, he records it, next one. Working on an album like you decribed it would be completely unusual and against his normal working habits.

ic..and its a shame prince doesnt look at each album as part of his legacy...he could record songs to get them out of this head and then release only the best of the best every few years....by not doing so he has really hurt the financial weight of his cataloge.

Cant see a U2 album coming out in 2006. Maybe the Popmart/Zooropa DVD release.

Nellie McKay's 'Pretty Little Head' on Jan 3rd.
Outkast's 'Idlewild' is pushed back to next year also.

And 2006 will see lots more Siouxsie And The Banshees remasters.
