Walk The Line vs. Get Rich or Die Tryin' ?

or

If you aren't already aware of it, these two movies will in theaters this month with plenty of curiosity about them and their subjects. I have a few questions to ask, feel free to answer anytime.

1. Which one are you going to see?
2. Which one will be more successful at the box-office?
3. Which one will receive better reviews just based on the performances of the main actors, Jaquin Phoenix or 50 Cent?
4. Which one will last longer in release?
5. Which one will get award consideration?
6. Which one will you buy on DVD?
7. Which one will you care about more in a year, 5 years, 10 years, etc.... ?

Anxiety

i'll see the johnny cash movie, though i don't have a lot of hope for joaquin phoenix as JC...i'm still bitter because i think john cusack would have been a PERFECT man in black, but i'm a fan and i'll see it regardless.

as for 50 cent, i'll have to miss that one. maybe i'll watch it on DVD if i hear enough good buzz about it. i broke down and watched 8 mile, after all. how many times do i need to see 'purple rain' with a different pop star in the lead role?

I hate 50 cent so much that I won't even watch it once it airs on t.v giggle And honestly how hard is it to play yourself in a movie lol I think Joaquin looks pretty convincing as Johnny Cash.....I'm not sure about his acting though since I haven't really seen too many movies with him in it.

I think Get Rich....just because of the 50 cent hype still going on right now.

Cent

3. Which one will receive better reviews just based on the performances of the main actors, Jaquin Phoenix or 50 Cent?

Cash

4. Which one will last longer in release?

Cash... it'll be a buildup to wide release. Cent will be around for about 6 weeks. Strong initial box off, but it'll disappear quickly.

5. Which one will get award consideration?

Cash

6. Which one will you buy on DVD?

neither

7. Which one will you care about more in a year, 5 years, 10 years, etc.... ?

probably neither.

but it will be interesting to read the reviews comparing the story of a real-life bad ass with one about a little kid trying to be a bad ass by waving a gun around.

I HOPE the Cash movie will do better, but considering how inexplicably popular Fiddy is maybe his movie will pull in the big bucks. I'm going to see WTL, but not Get Rich or Die Tryin'.

I see Walk the Line getting more critical success, regardless.

Question: Is that the new Get Rich or Die Tryin' poster? Is he trying to appeal to audiences by holding a baby when the real 50 said he doesn't have time to take care of his own son?

I'm sure there are tons of wanksters out there that will make sure 50's movie does better and makes load of money.

Walk to Line will be a much better movie and it also portrays a musical genius. Johnny was great. 50 will just always be a thug asshole!

1. Which one are you going to see? I want to see Walk The Line, but might end up watching it on DVD. (I heart Joaquin.)

2. Which one will be more successful at the box-office? Walk the Line--think of all those red staters that love country music, and Johnny Cash has more crossover appeal. (e.g. I detest country music, but JC is a legend!)

3. Which one will receive better reviews just based on the performances of the main actors, Jaquin Phoenix or 50 Cent? Joaquin & Reese!

4. Which one will last longer in release? Walk the Line

5. Which one will get award consideration? Walk the Line

6. Which one will you buy on DVD? Neither.

7. Which one will you care about more in a year, 5 years, 10 years, etc.... Neither.

I'll probably go see the Cash flick the day it hits theatres, but I'm still pretty pissed that they didn't have the actors lip-synching like they did in "Ray." I actually thought that one of the things that made Ray so great is that you heard his voice singing his songs. But I'll end up seeing it anyway, so what the hell.

It's a jungle out there.

maybe if 50 cent was more of a man than a wanna be bitch-ass, I would have probably gone to see it...but that's a negative, he'll never get rich off of me....

I love Joaquin Phoenix, I think he's one of the best actors of this generation, I would like to see "Walk the Line" just because of him alone, and I don't even listen to country music!! (But i did love "The Coal Miner's Daughter" and "Urban Cowboy" biggrin )
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I actually think Walk the Line will do better business. 50 might have a great week, but it's going to fall soon after. The demographic most interested in seeing 50 can't get in to an R rated movie. A lot of theatres have really put the crack down on that under 18 policy.
