THE BEATLES!.....THEY WERE f**KING BRILLIANT, WERENT THEY

just listening to some random beatle tracks again today and it reminded me just how brilliant they were in all sorts of ways.....commercially huge all over the world and artistically superb....a rare combination....wonderful songwriting, and musicial development that has never been matched from 1962 to 1970.....

i was listening to "tomorrow never knows" and the rest of Revolver
again today whilst driving and that song just never ever ages. its
absolutely amazing.

i don't particularly like their early stuff, although i can see
how good it is. i just like the older, more experimental and eh
more mature stuff.

and that is imo unrivaled by any act that came after them. cool

lol In the same way that you can't mention Prince without somebody else mentioning MJ, somebody is always going to instantly compare the inferior Stones to The Beatles. razz

i can respect the opinions of people who don't like the beatles and think they're overrated, but i will never understand.

to me, the beatles are to pop music as water is to cooking.

I love post-Rubber Soul Beatles, but had to discover them on my own. The only Beatles album my parents owned was the Sgt. Peppers soundtrack. neutral

I hear ya (I prefer them as hippies), but A Hard Days Night is about as classic as it gets. Also, it's the closest thing you get to a John Lennon solo record until 1970.

With the Beatles is great, too, and Help has some songs that surpass many of the songs on their later records.

Yep. For the longest time the only version of "Come Together" I knew was Aerosmith's.

Only kidding. smile But you warmed up to The Stones pretty quick, didn't you? Did you say you weren't a fan before the show?

Yes. They were as crucial to modern music as Jimi was to the electric guitar.

I've always liked them, but wasn't familiar with much of their work. I broke in "Forty Licks" a few weeks before the show and that's what made me a fan. The show was just the icing on the cake.
