love for the allman brothers band

of all the hard rock lists i've ever seen i don't see the allman brothers band on most of them and thats a damn shame....these guys can still play their asses off especially the latest incarnation with marc quinones,(percussion) derek trucks,(lead & slide guitar) warren haynes (lead & slide guitar), and oteill burbridge (bass).... what ya'll think??

At Fillmore East is a classic record.

But the 1st record...

...Tom Dowd recorded them at their greasiest.

It's worth tracking down.

Could also use a remastering job.
Too bad Mr. Dowd's not here to do it.

Hmm...

Sometimes, I think their ballads are better written than the more rollickin' tunes they're known for.

A great American band!

My dad used to listen to them when I was a kid. I only know their hits anymore, but I do love them:

Ramblin' Man
Whipping Post
Midnight Rider
(looooove this one!)

I been run down, I been lied to,
I don’t know why I let that mean woman make me a fool.
She took all my money, wrecked my new car.
Now she’s with one of my goodtime buddies,
They’re drinkin’ in some crosstown bar.

Sometimes I feel, sometimes I feel,
Like I been tied to the whipping post,
Tied to the whipping post,
Tied to the whipping post,
Good lord, I feel like I’m dyin’.

cool

I bet it sounds amazing, because it's already got a blues base to it.

Whipping Post. Midnight Rider. Their version of Sormy Monday is great. Brothers and Sisters is overall my favorite CD.
