Well I don't think it's really a fair comparison as Prince's positivity is from the album that most prince fans consider his last great album while stevie's is something he made (or at least released) long after the end of his artistic prime. That being said, I think it's kind of a tough call. I think prince's song has more complexity and developement in the arrangement and production, but stevie's has a more solid melody and is more fun.

Stevie's overall. Although Prince's is okay, as usual Stevie trumps Prince lyrically. I like the breakdowns in Stevie's version.

I like them both but I felt Prince's version more.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

only cause the other tracks are even better! smile

but on the topic: I think I'd still chose Prince.. Stevie's joint is still to fresh to put it into perspecitve, so please ask me again in a few years from now
Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

If Stevie's managed to have a guitar solo and drum-pattern shift, his version would get it ... by a hair.

As it is, Prince's song (though extremely campy) has some really cool musical textures to it. I love the beats, percussion and guitar tones. The lyrics? ill

Stevie's is stronger lyrically and melodically, no question.

I like both for different reasons. Stevie's is very insightful and uplifting. Prince's is uplifting, sexy, trippy and magical.

I agree. Weak song on an otherwise good album. Prince's wins for me.
