Cool Trent Reznor quote about Franz Ferdinand!

Courtesy of Rolling Stone Magazine:

Six years ago, you said in Rolling Stone that rock & roll "has taken a big shit." How do you feel now?

Well, we've managed to put rap rock -- or, sorry, new metal -- back where it belongs, as a forgotten footnote. I'm a bit more optimistic now, but in the alternative-rock world I see a lot of hype over substance. I think Radiohead are great, and Arcade Fire -- I saw them live and couldn't believe how good it was. On the other hand, there's a band like Franz Ferdinand -- all the cool people say they're good, but it sounds like I'm getting bullshitted by somebody. That's just my take.

oh wait, that wasn't so cool... boxed

As much as I love Franz, I can kinda see what he's getting at. There's something really insincere about their posturing.

i've finally gotten to the point where i don't apologize for not "getting" franz ferdinand anymore, and i realize that the reason i don't "get" them is because i just plain don't like them. lol

I think they've got great songs, put on a killer live show and I even like their style.

But I can't get over feeling like they're constantly taking the piss.

The lead singer would still have a Christ complex and make me sick. Any fancy dress-up would only make it worse.

No way- the music sounds completely different to Nickelback's crap.

same here. Gooey tried to hip me to Franz Ferdinand. Usually he has
the greatest tips for new bands and he was also the one who gave me
copies of the Arcade Fire album and EP or the Roísín Murphy solo cd,
which I love to death. but somehow, I can't get into Franz Ferdinand
at all. They do have some nice songs, but they don't "klick" for me.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Have you heard the new album?

I was VERY 'whatevs' about their debut, but the new CD has grwon on my quite a bit. I'm enjoying it much more than the debut....

I voted Franz Ferdinand most overrated band on one of these org polls awhile back. I'm happy to see I'm not the only one who feels that way.

Heh, well I've gotten the same feeling over Franz Ferdinand too. The music could be really good, if it wasn't just so blatantly tongue-in-cheek and retro all the time.

Besides in the new video they arrogantly push over the noise guy with the blender and the electrical gadgets and start performing themselves with their manly guitars and think they're cooler. They're not.

Yeah, actually releasing music in a timely manner. Rarely goes appreciated these days.
