What's so bad about her songs? They usually have great hooks and are not taking themselves too seriously.

I dislike "Hung Up" but you can not deny that her 80s output was fun at the least.

hammers first album was mostly run dmc sounding ripoffs (with exceptions), but love him or hate him, he broke the mold.

The bulk of her debut album lists Madonna as the sole composer of many songs, IIRC (Lucky Star, Burning Up, etc) and while these solo efforts are rare in later releases there's nothing wrong with good partnerships if the result is worth it. With Madonna this is usually true and obviously a big part of what has kept her fresh, musically, over the years.
