I'll probably see that 50 Cent movie, though I believe that the Johnny Cash movie has more relevance, since it is a biopic while 50 Cent's movie is more of a gangsta drama loosely derived from his life. Not to discount 50 getting shot nine times, but Johnny Cash lived an equally hard life of booze, violence and hanging around with thugs and rednecks, yet still managed to stay loyal to his wife and family and at least tried to live a faithful Christian uprbringing. I believe that had Johnny Cash not had June Carter Cash to give him some moral grounding and a stable presence, he would have suffered the same or worse fate as 50 Cent before he became famous or any of the protagonists in his country songs (like the boy named Sue, who shot and killed a man just to watch him die.)

One of my funniest memories of Johnny Cash was when he was on Saturday Night Live during the 80's, and he was playing himself doing a concert at some prison. Eddie Murphy was playing some death row convict who was about to executed, and when the warden asked him if he had any last request, he said he wanted Johnny Cash to sing "99 Bottles of Beer On The Wall" to him, but the full uncut version. Johnny Cash then told the warden that the full uncut version was "999,999 Bottles of Beer On The Wall." So anyway, Johnny Cash starts singing this, and they show nearly 24 hours go by on the clock, and as he had finally finished the song, Eddie Murphy's character screamed, "One more time!" The guy playing the priest who was supposed to be blessing him and giving him his last rites said, "You had your last request. Now move it!" Then a phone call comes in to the warden. The warden answers it, and he shouts, "It's the governor." Ediide Murphy's character says, "I knew it! The governor is going to pardon me and stop my execution." The warden has this surprised look on his face, but then he turns to Johnny Cash and says, "It's for you, Mr. Cash."

As for the debate between Get Rich... and Walk..., I think I'm going to see both of them. I not a 50 Cent fan anymore but I've heard some good stuff about this film and if my friends want to see it, I'll go with them. Walk The Line looks like it's going to be a great film. Joaquim and Reese are good actors and they look very convincing to me when I see the previews. Plus Johnny Cash was a music legend and though I don't know much on his history, I totally respect what he did for music as a whole. It's something when rockers and I've even heard Pharell say that JC was an influence for them. So I wouldn't mind seeing this at all.

Supposedly 50 is on LETTERMAN tonite TAPE ALERT....

Ebert & Roeper reviewed Get Rich or Die Tryin' and gave it . Sounded as though they thought it was a good film, though not great.

Walk The Line, because Joaquin does his own singin and plays guitar in the film and sounds just like Johnny Cash. That's hot. It worked for Jamie. Fitty on the other hand, is Fitty and mimicking his own live perfomance consists of wearin kevlar and pacing around. Perhaps if I were a 15 year old girl, it'd be interestin.

One more thing. What's with this biopics of living people starring the actual person? I'll only tolerate that from two people, Prince and Muhammed Ali. Other than that, cut that shit out. You is not the greatest.

Nah, not the whole thing. He lip synched the scenes they had recordings for. He sang for himself in the club scenes when Ray was young. He sang in the scenes where they debated about Ray's sound being to similar to other people's. He sang in the living room when he introduced I got a Woman to Bea. He sang Hit the Road Jack in the hotel room. Jamie sang a few spots in the movie, but mainly I meant that he portrayed an artist who meant something to history and embodied that person. It's pretty easy when you are the person.
