SassyBritches

i really don't like coldplay's music...

and i dislike chris martin even more, lol! i know they have a lot of fans and i even like one or two songs but they realkly are a bunch of unoriginal guys.

first they wanted to be radiohead but they realized that couldn't happen. then they went through some kind of rem phase. now chris thinks he is bono. taking on the same causes (which, in the end, is actually a great thing because support is support, no?) and making comments like "all we want to do is make great music and blow u2 out of the water," is he really that dumb? lol

the latest round of chris's i-must-be-as-cool-as-bono phase is the following, from yahoo newswire, "Coldplay singer outbids Bono in auction for REM lunchbox. NEW YORK, NY Wednesday Oct.19.2005 /netmusiccountdown.com/ -- Coldplay's Chris Martin faced off against U2's Bono last Sunday (October 16th), but it was all in the name of love and charity."

i suppose what could be better than trying to be rem or u2? trying to incorporate rem AND u2 into a pathetic game of wannabe/ lol

coldplay does absolutely nothing for me whatsoever. i think chris martin is dullsville. maybe it's that their music is well produced and their whole image is very pseudo-alternative and tasteful that gets them all the fans. it's good music to give as a gift to someone you don't know very well, because it's not offensive and it's perfectly beige. well, not as beige as norah jones, but pretty beige.

See, I really don't mind them. I don't like them, but I don't despise them either. But whenever their videos come on, I automatically let out a groan and have to change the channel. I think I'm mostly just sick of seeing them all the damn time.

'Parachutes' was good, 'A Rush Of Blood....' was argueably better, 'X&Y' is just over the top & boring.....they missed it! Their concerts (saw them last summer) are predictable & boring as well!

I could not agree more with SassyBritches and Anx.

Theyre so boring, and your right, he does want to be Bono!

I lump them in with the David gray, katie melua, daniel bedingfield crowd, and countless other depressig boring English acts.

What happened to decent British music?!

I agree. I could stomach them when they were just Radiohead wannabes with a cute song, but that's only carried them through 2 albums, and now it's clear they have nothing of their own to bring to the table. Fix yourself!

I'm not really a Coldplay fan either. In fact, I'd kinda writen them off as "Radiohead Lite" once they really got huge. I got some free tickets to see them last month and I have to admit it was a great show. So in the end, I guess I can still enjoy them even though I probably won't run to the sto' to pick up their record.

Except for some choice Brit rock (Beatles are unequivocally accepted, but I don't like Stones, can tolerate an album or two from Zep, Yes and Tull), but I really don't like Brit pop or soul (anything Euro for that matter is just super cheesy lite-mayo).

Those folks should just stick to playing classical.
