AsylumUtopia

I always enjoy The Band screeching their way through Comfortably Numb. The song doesn't suit them at all, it's a gloriously entertaining moment.

I've always thought Cyndi Lauper was just a little too enthusiastic in her rendition of ABITWp2, calm down Cyndi, it's just a song, not the triple jump.

Thomas Dolby was very good, he should've been given more to do.

I know the idea was to have loads of guests and to make it a spectacular, but I always find it slightly dissatisfying that Roger doesn't do more of the singing himself, he just wanders around in his white coat looking lost quite a bit of the time, occasionally wanders over to his bass and thunk, thunk's a few notes, puts it down again, and then goes to hide behind a polystyrene brick until it's time to introduce his next guests.

Overall though it's a pretty good performance with some very entertaining moments. A guy I used to work with was at the concert. He and his friends were quite near the back. At the beginning of the concert when they had all the sound problems, apparently the crowd were all shouting 'turn it up, turn it up'. Doesn't sound like that on the recording though. He also said the video was better than actually being there. Shame really. He shouldn't have stood at the back.
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.
