Z Cult Favorite/"I Want Your Love" vs. "He's The Greatest Dancer" Both songs are brilliant. Both of course, were written and produced by the brilliance of Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers. Both have the tailored "Chic" sound. "I Want Your Love" was a hit for Chic in 78. "He's The Greatest Dancer" was also a hit for Sister Sledge in 79. This song would have definately been a bigger hit if Chic had released it under their name. Both songs are similar in tempo as well. Even though "I Want Your Love" is my favorite Chic song of all time, the lyrics to "He's The Greatest Dancer" are superb. Anyway, which song do ya'll favor; "I Want Your Love" or "He's The Greatest Dancer"? SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

'I Want Your Love' gets my vote..... Agree about 'He's The Greatest Dancer'..... Pill, the bass lines are "STOOPID"! Perfect example of Bernard's style; Fluid, in the pocket, classical, funky. Man, he was the next thing to James Jamerson as far as that went. Man, Bernard was cold!!! Bernard sounded like he had 6 fingers and shit. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Dag B! Decisions, Decisions (lol)...I'm going with "I Want Your Love". One of the smoothest songs Chic ever did. Every man wants to hear a woman say those exact words to him. Slick basslines and guitars too. But both songs are tight and were both sampled in the late 90's. (Total with "He's The Greatest DJ" and Big Bub or was it Big Boy? with "I Want Your Love.) Sister Sledge (still love them) is looking pretty sad these days with just 2 of them (Joni and Debbie) doing PBS shows..but they have to pay the bills. Good pick as usual my brutha.

Close call but I lean toward He's The Greatest Dancer.
Verse groove, synth hook after the chorus and the string lines in between pushes it over the top for me. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Damn B, you sure make it hard for a brother to choose I love both songs to Death. Nard was fierce on the bass, so today I'll say "I want your Love." Tomorrow it'll be "He's the Greatest Dancer."

Hey bro,do you know the story behind these two songs? "I Want Your Love" was originally recorded by Sister Sledge and it was slated to appear on their 'We Are Family' album."He's The Greatest Dancer" was originally recorded by Chic, and it was slated to appear on their 'C'est Chic' album. But somewhere along the way,Niles and Bernard decided to switch things around. They reclaimed the track "I Want Your Love" for themselves, and gave Sister Sledge "He's The Greatest Dancer" as a replacement. If you listen closely to the chorus of "I Want Your Love",you can still hear Sister Sledge's vocals. But back to your question...I can't choose! Both songs are excellent...two of the strongest jams that Niles and Bernard ever came up with.

They're Both Killin', But I'll go with I Want Your Love, cause that's the tune that made me run out and buy the Chic albums!
I was diggin' their Sister Sledge stuff too, but it wasn't until I heard the track "Thinking Of You" that I ran out and tackled that album Man, when Nile's Guitar and Bernard's Bass would lock up... ! ... "I Want Your Love" - the chords have a rare melancholic nuance.

Both are beautiful dance tunes. Gettin' Jiggy With It nearly ruined He's the Greatest Dancer for me. But it's a great tune. And I love, love, love the bells in I Want Your Love. Best part of the song for me. A sample of it was put to great use in a remix of Vogue.

That's a draw - they're both too funky! Nile's guitar and the interaction with Bernard's bass and the drums...Man!!!
One of my favorite things about Chic, which they did in a lot of their records, was what I call the "Chic Breakdown". Cats don't do that anymore - they just wanna rush the songs and not let the groove breathe. Those cats were bad - even funked it up in suits!!! I bet you Nile has stories for days - he knows everybody! My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

I'd probably pick "Greatest Dancer" cuz I know it better, plus it has funner lyrics.
Speaking of lyrics..... for years I've wanted to know just what the h*ll they are saying in the chorus: "I wonder why, I wonder why..... He's the greatest dancer" Are they just pronouncing it: "Ah won-duh whah"? I'm pretty familiar with a lot of accents, but it still is hard to make out what they're saying. ON a side note, I played keys in a band this summer and we did a medley of: We Are Family/Good Times and I did a mini-version Rapper's Delight over Good Times!

SO what are the correct lyrics?
"I wonder why?" I"ve seen lyric sites put it down as: "Oh what, wow!" "I was like wow!" etc. I think it's supposed to be "I wonder WHy" but it really doesnt' sound like it and it doesnt' make too much sense either.
