As of Right now Mariah stands about 1.1 Million behind 50 Cents Massacre as the top selling CD of 2005. However with the Xmas season approaching AND the Re Issue of the Emancipation Of Mimi, which will count as the same CD, Although the DVD Deluxe Version will not, the Version Without the DVD will, which is about 3 dollars cheaper but Mariahs Longtime Fans will want the DVD for Unreleased Videos not shown in the USA. The XMAS season tends to be more favorable towards Artists like Mariah, Elton, Rod Stewart, etc.. and not Kind to Rap artists at all, Im not really sure why they still continue to push out Rap CDs right at the wire and they get lost in the shuffle. I talked to a Universal Rep and as of Right now the Preorder on the Emancipation of Mimi is almost to ship 1.1 Million first week, and since its about 2 weeks before the holiday kick off, Emancipation should be the seasons Strongest Seller, and with The Single Dont FOrget About us, moving quickly with airplay, I think Mariah is a sinch to beat 50 cent (thank god!) and most likely finish the year out over 5 million sold, not bad for someone that "experts" were calling FINISHED!

Mariah is a scamming the chart system agian!! she did it with 64cents singles which made billboard to change the rules.

Persoanlly i think she isnt very talented she is a oppurtuniust at every turn of the way.

If she hadnt married mattola she wouldnt would have gone away long time back

The thing with her is that she's a cookie cutter radio artist and has her songs in heavy rotation because of it. Which is why she does so well in the US. US radio tends to love uninspired r&b.
Also having a rapper on all your songs helps sells your albums.

I think it's so wrong to top the sales because 1 fan buys 3 different editions when the product is almost the same.

Just for everyone to also remember, 50 CENT who has the top selling cd of this year also has a Re-issue recently which is why that CD all of sudden flew into the top 10 again for a few weeks. And another note would be that Soundscan does not track what the Consumer buys, it tracks what stores order and re order, there is no method to track what the "public" is actually buying, Labels also give stores discounts to buy certain CDs too, which is a form of "payola" when u look at it.

I think with the Lack-of of releases this season it clearly shows why Universal is banking on a Re-issue being one of its strongest sellers. All in all the industry is forecasting a 10-15% drop between this year and last year, but thats there own faults

lets not forget the world picture here, worldwide MIMI is already the top selling album this year with sales approaching 7million, im guessing with the re-issue, the xmas season and a lot of awards coming mariahs way that could easily reach 9million by the end of the year!

Give my man Ricky Martin some time. It is only October and his new CD is selling like hotcakes. We'll see who's ahead at the end of the year.

All of these releases will do Good worldwide numbers, especially the Danni and A-ha, and Eurythmics releases, only the Duran and Eurythmics will be released in the USA, as for my top rotation, the Simple Minds disc isnt coming here, the Howard Jones Disc is impossible to find here, A-ha, MAGNE F are imports only, and BERLIN is only available through their website, only Depeche is available here and will probably not sell much in the USA, kind of Like REM in that respect 100,000-200,000.

Apparently "I Can't Sleep At Night" was prepped to be the single but was yanked for "Perfection." God only knows why. I think the next single will be out early next year and the album will follow- perhaps in spring.

50 re-released his cd with a video for every track on the cd (a creative first)and now Mariah is re-releasing hers, and for really no good reason. There are still good singles to release from Mimi. Is this just to rip fans for more money like Usher did? And who cares who sales the most? Remember that the movies that sell the most tickets, do not walk away with the most Oscars.

It was mentioned here. I like the fact that 50's rerelease is justifed and Mariah's isn't. 50 could have released a DVD only to fans and not make them buy the album again! How convienant that they will inflate the album sales! Didn't he say he would die if this album didn't sell as much as the last...well, even Clear Channel's few months of only 50 couldn't make it bigger than his last one! Everyone re releases albums, her label is doing it because they want it to compete in the christmas market. Madonna already has 2 versions of her album planned with extra track before it is released. If people don't want the new one, they won't buy it, no big deal.
