She hasn't had an good album in years, but yet this network treats her like the 2nd coming of Christ.I just don't get it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...she doesn't have an accent. She's always spoken that way.

And they kiss her ass because she's the best video artist of all time. They're a video channel. Makes sense to me!

But, I've noticed it's gone away in the most recent interviews. It was at its worst during the press for the last album.

And MTV supports Madonna because she is the mother of MTV and it would be backstabbing the woman who helped MTV stay on the air by not helping her out.

Madonna does MTV favors and they return them. It's always been a love relationship between them.

The fact is that Madonna helped make MTV what it is, and I highly doubt that they would continue airing these Madonna events all the time if they didn't get ratings! I odn't think they are just kissing her ass. Madonna and MTV work well together. Sorry if it upsets that dispite the fact that she hasn't made a good album in years that she is still hugely popular.

I agree. I watched her on Letterman and while I thought she did have a slight British accent before, I think she's slowly phasing it out now. One thing is for sure...she doesn't sound the same way she did in the eighties or even the way she did on "Truth Or Dare" with the thick midwest accent.

Madonna started out on MTV- it was the first place a lot of people got to see her for the first time- MTV and Madonna have gone through so many changes together...they started out together(nearly)and today they are both still here-
so when you look at the present climate in pop music- 20something years IS something to celebrate.
I to hold Like A Prayer high in Madonna's greatest moments, but her music has changed with herself AND the public- if she just did adult, personel songs then she would be doing more American Life albums(which I actually love, but I do need a bit of ESCAPE from life now and again),
thank God that there's a bit of freedom in her career so she has the sense to try different styles and collabrators.
Got that off my chest...
I do think that there is a whole heap of critics of Madonna out there who should really be looking at other elements of music that are far more damaging to the industry. Someone like Madonna should be celebrated-
it's also an anti female thing- no one critizes the big boys for doing the same one-trick-pony parade for a hundred years-Rolling Stones or Bod Dylan anyone?

I always dug a few of her tracks when they came out in the last few years...but her music gets incredibly old after a few listens..

give me ani d over madonna anyday.. I'd rather hear a women sing her heart out and actually play an instrument.

When I lived over in Ireland, I started to speak more like Madonna does, and I"ll tell you exactly why: you get slagged off big-time for your American accent over there. As soon as people hear it in the pub or wherever, that's all you're gonna hear about for a long time, and it becomes how you're defined--fair or not. So eventually, you start feeling paranoid about how you sound, you want to "blend in" and be seen for who you are, rather than where you're from, and little by little you start speaking like the people you're around everyday. Madonna's been living over there for a long time and has been married to a British man, it only makes sense that she's gonna naturally pick up the dialect. If you moved down South to Alabama or Georgia or someplace like that for long enough, my bet is that you'd eventually start picking up that dialect, too.

If you asked me this question even a month ago, I would wonder the same thing with that question (and I've liked Madonna for a while) but it's like what someone said, Madonna has worked with MTV and vice versa. MTV made Madonna and Madonna has helped MTV out for over 20 years. Her presence on the channel is just something that we have to accept, just like realizing that MTV really isn't MTV anymore. For me, I'm elated to see Madonna on MTV just to know that they haven't forgotten about music with all the reality shows they have on that station alone.
